XLM fell 7.85% in the week Chainlink's oracles went live on Stellar
Chainlink's Data Feeds and Data Streams went live on Stellar mainnet on October 14, 2026, for a network that holds over $4 billion in tokenized assets. XLM fell 7.85% over the seven days around the launch, a window too wide to pin on the news. The oracle's value will show up as borrowing against those assets.

XLM's implied price at the start of the week is near $0.206, if $0.19 is the end price of the 7.85% weekly fall. XLM was trading around $0.19 by mid-October 2026. Its decline during the announcement week was roughly 7% to 10%.
| Figure | Value | Note | Claim |
|---|---|---|---|
| Implied week start if $0.19 ended the 7.85% fall, near | $0.206 per XLM | 14 | |
| Price by mid-October 2026, around | $0.19 per XLM | 10 | |
| Announcement-week decline, roughly, at least | 7% | up to 10% | 10 |
What happened
- The Stellar Development Foundation announced the feeds as market data for lending platforms, prediction markets, perpetual futures exchanges and other financial services.
- News.bitcoin.com described the integration as a push to move Stellar's tokenized assets beyond issuance and transfer into trading and use as collateral.
- The launch follows Stellar's October 2025 commitment to join Chainlink's Scale program, the arrangement that covers the data tools.
Why it matters
- cost The foundation pays for oracle operations, so developer uptake is a weak signal of demand while the subsidy lasts.
- capability Lending contracts on Stellar can now take collateral values, loan-to-value ratios and automated liquidation triggers from a native Chainlink feed.
- constraint CCIP, the cross-chain half of the Scale commitment, was left out of this launch, so cross-chain use of Stellar collateral has no date yet.
- exposure Liquidations on Stellar now depend on the quality of Chainlink's data; Cryptobriefing notes a bad feed can turn a routine dip into a cascade of wrongful liquidations.
A seven-day loss is a poor test of a one-day launch. Cryptobriefing reports a seven-day XLM loss of 7.85% around the announcement [9], and the feeds went live on October 14, 2026 [1], so a window ending near that date is mostly made of days before the launch. It cannot separate a market that ignored the news from one that was already falling. Cryptobriefing had the token near $0.19 by mid-October [10]; if that is the end point of a 7.85% fall, the week began near $0.206, a drop of about 1.6 cents [14].
The launch is a cost line for the foundation under its Scale commitment, or rather a bet that borrowing will arrive to justify it [4]. Money committed that way is not available for anything else. The reports did not disclose how much it is, or a loan balance on any Stellar protocol.
Our view is that the oracle's value will show up in loans, and the XLM chart is the wrong place to look for it. Stellar hosts over $4 billion in tokenized assets [15], though Cryptobriefing notes that some reports put the pool between $3.54 billion and $4 billion [16], a spread of $0.46 billion, or 11.5% of the top figure [17]. Cryptobriefing also says an asset that cannot be reliably priced onchain is hard to use as collateral [8].
The counter-thesis is that a chain gains little from a price feed until someone writes the lending contract. The foundation says ecosystem applications are already adopting the infrastructure for lending and stablecoin pricing [18]. None of the executives quoted gives a volume. Johann Eid of Chainlink Labs said in a statement that Stellar's adoption "unlocks a new generation of DeFi and tokenized asset applications across its ecosystem" [12]. Raja Chakravorti, the SDF's chief business officer, said "Tokenization is only the beginning" [11].
We'd be wrong if the share of those assets posted as collateral stays flat while the subsidy runs, because then the missing oracle was not what held lending back. The launch could also succeed on usage and still leave the token lower: lenders arrive, collateral grows, and XLM keeps falling.
What to watch
- New lending and derivatives protocols launching on Stellar, and any disclosed loan balances against tokenized assets.
- Growth in the share of Stellar's roughly $4 billion tokenized-asset pool that is posted as collateral.
- Whether CCIP follows the data services onto Stellar mainnet, and whether the foundation discloses the size of the oracle subsidy.

The Stellar Development Foundation announced that Chainlink's Data Feeds and Data Streams are available to developers, providing market data for lending platforms, prediction markets, perpetual futures exchanges and other blockchain-based financial services.

In October 2025, Stellar committed to joining the Chainlink Scale program, which covers both data tools and the Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP).
- [4]
The Stellar Development Foundation is subsidizing oracle operations under the Scale program, which lowers the cost for developers building on the feeds.
- [5]
The broader partnership includes plans to integrate Chainlink's CCIP, although that component was not included in the latest launch announcement.
- [6]
Chainlink's oracle technology supplies pricing data that smart contracts need to determine collateral values, calculate loan-to-value ratios and trigger automated liquidations.

A bad price feed in lending, trading or derivatives applications can turn a routine market dip into a cascade of wrongful liquidations.
- [8]
A tokenized asset that cannot be reliably priced on-chain is hard to use as collateral, hard to lend against and hard to trade in automated markets.

XLM's seven-day loss reached 7.85% around the announcement.

XLM declined roughly 7-10% during the week of the announcement and was trading around $0.19 by mid-October 2026.

News.bitcoin.com described the integration as a push to expand Stellar's role beyond issuing and transferring tokenized assets, so they can be traded, used as collateral and built into more sophisticated financial products.

If $0.19 is the end price of the 7.85% weekly fall, the week began near $0.206, a drop of about 1.6 cents.

Some reports place the tokenized RWA figure on Stellar between $3.54 billion and $4 billion.
- [17]
The $3.54 billion to $4 billion range for Stellar's tokenized assets spans $0.46 billion, 11.5% of the top figure.
