Accessibility

Last updated 2 October 2026

Clarity should be readable by everyone, on any device, with any assistive technology. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA across the whole site, signed in and signed out.

How we test

  • Automated axe checks on the main pages, signed out and signed in, at phone and desktop widths, in light and dark mode.
  • Keyboard-only passes: every control reachable, visible focus, a skip link to the content.
  • Touch targets of at least 44 by 44 pixels on phones, and text that reflows at 320 pixels wide and 200% zoom.
  • Colour contrast checked against the AA ratios in both themes; meaning is never carried by colour alone.
  • Images that carry content have text alternatives; decorative desk artwork is hidden from screen readers.

Known limitations

  • Images from other publishers are described from the story they illustrate, not from the picture itself, so a description can be general.
  • Articles and answers are written by AI models. Our automated checks cover structure and wording, but an occasional heading or link may be less clear than it should be.
  • Pages we link to on other sites are outside our control and may not meet the same standard.

Report a barrier

If something on Clarity is hard or impossible for you to use, email contact@theclarity.today with the page address and what happened. We aim to reply within five working days and to fix what we can, or send you the content in another format in the meantime.
