Solana Mobile picks Ledger as its first hardware partner for the Seeker app
Ledger will ship its Atom with Solana Mobile's Seeker app preinstalled, delivery estimated for the second quarter of 2027. The announcement came five days after Ledger confirmed a hardware implant in an affected user's device.

What happened
- Solana Mobile named Ledger its first hardware expansion partner, announced on stage at Ledger's Op3n 2026 event in Paris on October 15.
- According to Solana Mobile's press release, Atom pairs Android Open Source Project software with an EAL6+ Secure Element running Ledger OS, and its display and touch controls are physically isolated from Android.
- Signing and approvals inside the Seeker app will run in Atom's Secure Mode, and more than 1,500 dApps now on Seeker are due to come to the device.
- Ledger Donjon, the company's in-house security lab, said on October 13 that the implant sits inside the enclosure, reads the recovery phrase shown on screen during setup and sends it over LTE through an eSIM.
Why it matters
- constraint The CryptoBilis implant copies the recovery phrase from the screen and leaves the Secure Element alone, so Atom's EAL6+ rating does not by itself show that a repeat would fail.
- decision Reserving a Founders Edition means putting down a refundable $100 against an $849 reserve price for a device whose specifications, features and price Ledger says may change.
- precedent Ledger is the first company named under Solana Mobile's March decision to open its software toolkit to Android hardware makers, so Atom's shipping record becomes the first test of that opening.
Ledger said the CryptoBilis implant leaves the Secure Element and Ledger OS untouched and has no effect on transactions or signatures [14]. It works from the recovery phrase shown on screen during setup [13]. In our view, an EAL6+ rating on the chip [3] therefore says little about this class of theft.
What Atom offers against the channel is tamper evidence. Solana Mobile said Atom will be sold only through Ledger's website, with anti-tampering and tamper-evident measures from packaging to the device, including methods intended to help detect whether the enclosure has been opened [9]. That matches the route Ledger described, in which an organized criminal group purchased authentic devices, added custom components and put them back into circulation via Southeast Asian resellers [20]. Ledger said nothing was wrong with its chip, operating system or servers [20]. Its own summary of the event: "This was not a systemic supply chain attack, it was a localized distribution attack." [21]
Solana Mobile did not say whether those measures would catch a component fitted inside the case. Its description of the detection methods is general [9].
The size of the losses shows what is at stake if tamper evidence fails. Buyers started reporting emptied wallets on October 9, with early on-chain estimates of suspected losses topping $86 million [17]. Yfarmx later ran a trace that counted $103.4 million taken from 530 addresses [18], about $195,000 per address on average [22]. Ledger has not confirmed an aggregate figure [19].
Solana Mobile's own Seeker numbers are more than $13 billion in transaction volume, 154 million transactions and over 200,000 devices sold across Saga and Seeker [10]. The company reports them, and they have not been independently audited [10].
Shipping Atom with the Seeker app at launch "just makes sense," said Ian Rogers, Ledger's Chief Human Agency Officer [5].
What to watch
- Whether Ledger publishes an aggregate loss figure for CryptoBilis, which so far ranges from above $86 million in early estimates to $103.4 million in the Yfarmx trace.
- Whether Solana Mobile or Ledger disclose SKR token allocation or revenue-sharing terms for the partnership.
- Whether Ledger publishes final Atom specifications, price and a technical description of its enclosure-opened detection before the Q2 2027 delivery estimate.

Ledger confirmed on October 10 that one affected user's device contained an unauthorized hardware implant.
- [13]
On October 13, Ledger Donjon, Ledger's in-house security lab, explained that the implant sits inside the device enclosure, reads the 24-word recovery phrase shown on screen during setup, decodes it with a microcontroller and transmits it over LTE cellular networks using a provisioned eSIM.
- [14]
Ledger said the implant does not modify the Secure Element or Ledger OS and does not alter transactions or signatures.
- [15]
The partnership builds on Solana Mobile's decision in March 2026 to open the Solana Mobile Stack, its software toolkit for native crypto features, to Android hardware manufacturers at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona; Ledger is the first company named to put that strategy into practice.
