Hancom bets on AWS Marketplace to find Nomadian's first US customers

Hancom will take its Nomadian AI workforce platform to the US with AWS and sell it through AWS Marketplace, starting with a late-December beta. The listing puts a tool built for solo entrepreneurs in front of companies already buying on AWS, and the beta will show how much those two groups overlap.

What happened

  • Hancom and AWS are running a 10-week joint build program, Hancom x AWS CoLab, that covers product design through launch and marketing.
  • Nomadian lets users hire AI agents for roles such as data analyst or content marketer, and its main customers are solo entrepreneurs.
  • Hancom also plans to join the AWS ISV Accelerate Program to seek co-selling opportunities in the US and other markets.

Why it matters

  • decision The Marketplace channel and the governance review both point at corporate buyers, so Hancom has to decide whether its US customer is the solo founder Nomadian was designed for or the AWS-account firm it is being sold to.
  • constraint If CoLab ends around Nov. 30, Hancom has about four weeks to turn its pricing and willingness-to-pay findings into a beta that ships in late December.
  • cost Hancom spends engineering time on the build and the beta before subscription revenue starts in 2027, so any saving on customer acquisition cannot be measured before then.

Ten weeks from the Sept. 21 kickoff [7][4] lands on about Nov. 30 [20], if the program clock started at that meeting. That leaves about four weeks before the late-December beta [10]. In that window the market track has to test market size, willingness to pay, pricing and revenue structure [5]. On the product track, AWS engineers help Hancom finish a first version that runs on AWS [6].

AWS helps design the pricing policy [2] for a product Hancom will sell through AWS's own catalog [3]. Hancom keeps the product vision and the key decisions [5]. According to the Seoul Economic Daily account, Hancom's case for the arrangement is about cost. Software firms with little name recognition abroad usually spend considerable time and money winning customers, and Hancom expects AWS's sales network and commercialization support to ease that burden [17]. The account does not include what AWS takes on Marketplace sales, what CoLab costs Hancom, or any customer-acquisition figure to measure the saving against.

The harder question is who that network reaches. Nomadian's main customers are solo entrepreneurs [8], and the US has plenty of them. The Census Bureau counted 31.99 million businesses without employees in 2024, up more than 1.5 million in a year [13], growth of roughly 5% [18]. The Marketplace, though, is a route for existing AWS customers [16], and the governance review built into the product is meant to win corporate customers that put security and stability first [12]. I think these are mostly two different buyers. My expectation is that a one-person business hiring an AI content marketer signs up on a website with a card, and that a company buying through an AWS account is the one asking about governance.

The beta could settle this in one of three ways. The listing might pull in companies, making Nomadian a corporate product in the US with solo founders left mostly in the marketing copy. Solo users might instead arrive by other routes, leaving the AWS relationship to pay off mainly through the ISV Accelerate co-selling Hancom plans to join [11]; in that case the saving comes from introductions by AWS sellers, not catalog traffic. Or the willingness-to-pay test might come back low for solo users, and the 2027 subscription [10] gets priced for firms.

The best evidence for the catalog comes from Goldman Sachs. In its survey of 1,256 firms in its 10,000 Small Businesses program, 76% of owners said they use AI and 14% said they had fully integrated it into core operations [14]. That is a 62-point gap [19], and lack of technical expertise and difficulty choosing the right tools were among the reasons cited [15]. A buyer who struggles to choose tools is the buyer a curated catalog should help, as long as that buyer already shops on AWS.

For its first US customers, Hancom is relying on AWS's sellers and catalog [17][16]. What Hancom brings is the product, whose agents draw on 36 years of its document technology to write reports, proposals and presentations [9]. In my view the listing will do more for corporate co-selling than for solo founders. I am wrong if Hancom's early US users turn out to be mostly solo entrepreneurs who found Nomadian through the Marketplace.

What to watch

  • Whether Hancom says how its late-December beta users arrived, Marketplace listing or direct sign-up, and what share are solo entrepreneurs.
  • The 2027 subscription price, and whether it is structured for firms buying seats or for one-person businesses.
  • Hancom's admission to the AWS ISV Accelerate Program and any named US customers won through co-selling.
