GTA 6 footage keeps leaking six weeks before launch despite Take-Two's subpoenas

GTA 6 leaker Cyberleek is credited with about 25 minutes of gameplay footage released despite Take-Two's subpoenas, six weeks before the November 19 launch. For launch teams, it shows subpoenas can chase a leaker's name while unannounced features still reach players first.

What happened

  • The October 8 upload was a ZIP file of more than 370MB titled "Extended Leek," according to Dexerto.
  • A poll spotted on Cyberleek's website on October 5 had voting set to close on October 8, the day the file appeared.
  • Kotaku, cited by The Verge, says the video opens on a Jason and Lucia cutscene leading into a scripted dirt bike race.
  • Cyberleek calls the leaks a protest against digital-only games, preorders and monetization, and has promoted a cryptocurrency alongside them.
  • Rockstar had not publicly addressed the October 8 footage when Dexerto published its report.

Why it matters

  • constraint Take-Two's subpoenas are aimed at finding a person, so for the remaining 42 days Rockstar's launch plan has to absorb whatever footage appears on the leaker's timetable.
  • exposure Platforms hosting GTA 6 footage are where Take-Two goes for a name, and any service carrying the next drop can expect the same legal requests.
  • precedent The 2022 leaker's life sentence in a hospital prison did not prevent a new leaker in 2026, so other publishers have weak evidence that prosecution protects a launch.

A player who has already preordered GTA 6 [21] now has two long previews of the game. One is Rockstar's official "extended look" on Netflix. The other is a leaked video almost as long, The Verge reported [13]. Kotaku, as cited by The Verge, describes Jason naked for almost all of it, including on a motorbike, "at a beach-side coffee store" and while talking to other characters [15].

Rockstar called the August leaks "heartbreaking" [6]. Take-Two took legal action. It issued subpoenas to several platforms to identify the person responsible, and court filings describe the investigation as "rapidly evolving," Dexerto reported [4]. The Verge said the publisher is trying to find the "alleged infringers" [5].

Teams tend to tell themselves that visible legal pressure makes a leaker go quiet. The dates do not fit that. The first Cyberleek videos went up on August 18, 2026 [7], and the new file came 51 days later [25], with 42 days left before the November 19 launch [24]. Dexerto adds a caveat: it is unclear whether the October upload comes from the same individual or group, and the footage has not been independently verified [8]. The reporting supports a narrower finding: footage attributed to Cyberleek kept arriving after the subpoenas went out [2][4].

Both rounds landed near Rockstar's own moments. The earlier clips came in the lead-up to the Netflix special, according to The Verge [14], and the new one falls inside the final six weeks before release [24]. Cyberleek "cashed out on a memecoin" earlier this year, The Verge reported [11], and the new video advertises a crypto coin [12].

What a player actually gets from the October file is a long look at features Rockstar had not shown, according to Dexerto [16]. One is the ability to play without clothes, with Jason fully nude in regular gameplay and in cutscenes [16]. Rockstar has confirmed that clothing plays a larger role in GTA 6, with NPCs and police able to identify Jason and Lucia by their outfits, including through security camera footage [17]. In the leak the cutscenes ran unaffected, and how NPCs or police react to a naked protagonist is unknown [19]. Dexerto says the footage likely comes from an unfinished build and could be changed or removed before release [18].

For a team inside two months of launch, two questions sort a leak like this one. The first is whether it shows something already on the team's reveal schedule. The second is whether the build could differ from what ships. A scheduled feature leaked in final form costs the surprise, and the official reveal can still be the better-made version. If the leaked build of a scheduled feature is unfinished, that reveal is also the place to correct it. Unscheduled features in final form cost little to ignore. The fourth box holds unscheduled features from a build that may change, and the October nudity footage sits there [16][18]. Support teams answer for that box after launch, because players will compare the shipped game with what they saw. In that box I'd say early and plainly that the footage is unfinished, and accept that saying so confirms the leak is real.

What to watch

  • Whether Take-Two's subpoenas produce a named person or a lawsuit before the November 19 launch.
  • Whether Rockstar comments on the October 8 footage, and whether it describes the leaked build as unfinished.
  • Whether the shipped game lets nudity carry into cutscenes as the leaked build shows.
