Decrypt brings perpetual futures and prediction markets into its crypto newsroom

Decrypt's self-custodial Solana accounts let readers fund prediction markets, swaps, perps and yield from one balance inside its news app. Sister brand Myriad, which Crypto Briefing reports has handled over $600 million in prediction volume, now gets the newsroom's readers as customers.

What happened

  • Decrypt and sister brand Myriad announced The Information Exchange on September 30, 2026, a self-custodial financial and intelligence network anchored on Solana.
  • The Money Accounts are already live, with deposits and balances held in USDT on Solana.
  • Existing Myriad Wallet users became Decrypt Money Accounts users with no migration, so one balance now covers both brands.
  • Decrypt says the instruments will widen to spot trading and structured event products as features roll out over the coming weeks.
  • The full product is due during Solana Breakpoint, scheduled for November 15 to 17, 2026.

Why it matters

  • constraint Decrypt's coverage of any event Myriad lists now has to pass a conflict-of-interest test, and Crypto Briefing says that test will decide how much trust the product earns.
  • exposure Anyone funding an account before Breakpoint is joining a network whose central token has no published supply, distribution or launch terms.
  • decision A reader weighing a leveraged perps position inside Decrypt cannot yet judge who executes the trade, because the protocols behind it have not been named.

Both brands belong to DASTAN [15], so one owner is connecting its newsroom to its trading venue. Decrypt's own announcement describes the split: "Decrypt is the information layer; Myriad is the infrastructure that connects what readers learn to what they can act on" [13]. Ilan Hazan, a Decrypt co-founder, said the goal is "one account, one balance, and access to every financial instrument, directly from where you already consume information" [10].

Whether that counts as running a market depends on the instrument. Myriad, the sister company, operates the prediction markets. They settle on another network, and users trade them from the same Solana USDT balance without a bridge [12]. Swaps and perps look more like a front-end arrangement. "We're working with leading protocols to make this possible, with partners to be announced in the coming weeks," Hazan said [11].

Perps are the riskiest of the four for readers. They are leveraged contracts with no expiry date, and Crypto Briefing wrote that putting them "one tap away from a breaking headline is a recipe for fast decisions" [17].

The commercial bet is that a newsroom raises Myriad's volume. Myriad's lifetime figure of over $600 million [14] compares with roughly 1.6 million monthly unique users across the Decrypt and Rug Radio network, according to research tied to the announcement [16]. One number is cumulative and the other monthly, so the ratio is crude: about $375 of all-time prediction volume per monthly reader [20].

What Decrypt is not doing is holding the money. It has no private keys, cannot act on a user's behalf, and plans to let users export their keys to other Solana wallets shortly [3]. It does pay for the plumbing. Gas and rent are sponsored through fee-payer co-signing [8], and swaps, perps and prediction markets all generate frequent, small transactions [18]. The announcement does not say what any product charges or who keeps the fees.

The open question is where the money ends up. If the partner protocols share trading fees with Decrypt, volume becomes newsroom revenue. In that case the tension Crypto Briefing raised, that a publisher running markets must show its coverage is not shaped by what drives volume [21], becomes a direct conflict. Should the MYR token capture the value through its staking and access functions [7], the incentive attaches to a token price instead. A third outcome is flat volume and a wallet attached to a news site. I think DASTAN intends the token to carry the economics, since its own text calls MYR "the shared economic coordination layer atop Solana" [13]. The counter-case is that no supply, distribution or launch mechanics have been published [7], and a fee deal with the perps partners could matter more. Partner terms that route fees to Decrypt, or MYR terms with no claim on trading revenue, would show that view is wrong. Breakpoint opens 46 days after the announcement [19].

What to watch

  • The named partner protocols for swaps and perps, and whether their terms send any trading fees to Decrypt.
  • MYR supply, distribution and launch mechanics, expected closer to Breakpoint on November 15.
  • Whether Myriad's cumulative volume, last put at over $600 million, grows faster once the newsroom is sending it traffic.
