Binance opens its free AI market assistant to all English speakers after a 150,000-user beta

Binance released its free AI market assistant to all English-speaking users on October 12, after a company-reported beta of about 150,000 testers. The coverage names one rival, Crypto.com. It reports no results for either product.

What happened

  • The assistant gives portfolio performance summaries, names leading assets and delivers market news in text or audio, with voice alerts and layouts that adapt to a user's experience level.
  • It is separate from Binance AI Pro, which was previewed in a livestream, and Binance has not presented the free tool as an autonomous trading bot.
  • The beta began on September 7, so the roughly 150,000 testers had 35 days before the general release.

Why it matters

  • contradiction The coverage describes a race among exchanges but documents one rival, Crypto.com, and publishes results for neither firm's assistant.
  • exposure The source warns that users relying on the same AI forecasts may stack the same positions. A 2026 working paper tied ChatGPT outages to an 8% drop in crypto order-book depth and a 19% rise in return volatility, without examining Binance AI.
  • constraint The returns evidence limits the pitch to information. Zhu and Cai found no general AI architecture shown to deliver durable, risk-adjusted returns after costs, and Binance itself warns users not to depend entirely on AI output.

The assistant costs users nothing, so the figures worth checking are the ones around it. The test ran 35 days [16], and the count of about 150,000 testers comes from a Binance spokesperson speaking to The Block [1]. The coverage does not include retention, running costs or any effect on trading volume.

The case for an exchange race rests, in this source, on one rival. Crypto.com has been producing personalized market sentiment analysis in under a second with Anthropic's Claude 3 on Amazon Bedrock [9], for a customer base AWS put at 140 million in 90 countries as of July 2025 [10]. Binance's answer is liquidity. CoinGecko's study gives it 25.3% of Bitcoin liquidity across eight exchanges [11]. An even split would give each 12.5%, so Binance holds 2.02 times its share [17], though the study covers only those eight exchanges, not the global market [11].

"Markets are becoming more complex, but the tools to understand them should become easier to use," Binance VP of Product Jeff Li said [7]. The line fits the company's superapp plan, which puts crypto, tokenized stocks and DeFi in one account [8]. Cryptopolitan's view is that AI could simplify that combination for users, but it adds that performance is yet to be verified [19].

We think the free assistant is a retention feature for that superapp. Binance has put its general release behind the version that summarizes and alerts. Keeping the two apart lets it market an information product while the automated one stays in preview [5]. Two other readings fit the same facts. Users may try the assistant and drift away, and the source itself says a lasting advantage depends on whether traders keep coming back [18]. Or Binance AI Pro may reach retail users on similar terms, in which case the separation was only timing.

The second reading is the one that would prove us wrong. The first cannot be tested yet, because no usage figure beyond the beta count has been published.

What to watch

  • Whether Binance publishes retention or usage figures for the assistant beyond the 150,000 beta count.
  • Whether Binance AI Pro moves from livestream preview to general release, and whether the free assistant's information-only positioning carries over.
  • Which languages Binance adds next, since the release so far covers English speakers only.
