In an insurer's survey, HR leaders put men's caregiving leave at 6% while employees reported 71%

HR decision-makers estimated that 6% of men take leave to care for a loved one's physical health, against 71% reported by employees. The Standard, the insurer behind the survey, sells absence products and the employee sample is relatively small, so the gap justifies checking leave materials before changing them.

Stryker team leader alleges his manager treated approved FMLA leave as a performance problem

Former Stryker team leader sues, alleging he was fired eight days after using FMLA leave the company had approved. His complaint is built largely from Stryker's own leave approvals and a same-day report to HR, so one supervisor's handling of that leave is now the company's legal exposure.

Fired NYU Langone hospitalist says the hospital called her time-limited leave requests indefinite

NYU Langone Health fired a $230,000-a-year hospitalist after childbirth left her with spinal complications, according to a lawsuit filed October 7. The complaint says her medical notes gave specific return dates, so the hospital's written description of her requests as indefinite now has to hold up against its own files.
