Vite+ 1.0 adds GitLab CI, Homebrew and tsup migration to its single-CLI toolchain
VoidZero released Vite+ 1.0, the first stable version of its single-CLI JavaScript toolchain, about three months after the beta. The release adds install, CI and migration paths for existing repos, and VoidZero says downloads are approaching two million a week.

What happened
- The setup-vp action, which handles Node.js setup, package manager setup and dependency caching in one step, now runs on GitLab CI/CD as well as GitHub Actions.
- Vite+ is now installable through Homebrew and available as a Docker image.
- The vp migrate command now handles tsup projects, and it prints its plan before it touches any files.
- New vp hooks and vp staged commands manage Git hooks and run checks on staged files, a job commonly done by Husky and lint-staged.
Why it matters
- decision Repos that run Vite, Vitest, tsup and a hooks tool as separate pieces now have one package covering all of them, so the choice is whether to consolidate.
- cost Anyone migrating a large production repo is told by VoidZero to read the guide first and expect follow-up work, so the saving arrives after that effort.
- constraint Monorepo teams adopting now do without remote caching and the deeper monorepo diagnostics that VoidZero lists as planned for later versions.
A bundled toolchain hides things. According to InfoQ, two new diagnostic commands address that: `vp toolchain` reports the exact version of every tool Vite+ provides, and `vp env doctor` explains how the runtime and package manager were resolved when that goes wrong [7]. Both matter because Vite+ ships as a single dependency tested as a unit, so an upgrade to any bundled tool arrives as one version bump [9].
We think consolidating suits a repo carrying separate Vite, Vitest, tsup and hook configs today. A repo that needs to hold one tool at an older version is worse off.
The sharpest criticism in the commentary InfoQ collected is about churn. One Hacker News commenter noted Vite shipped "five major versions in the four years 2022-2026", each with breaking changes, and said they did not want to become "a vite upgrade engineer" [10]. Vite+ 1.0 bundles Vite 8 [2], and since the beta Vitest 5 has gone stable and Vite 8.1 has shipped [15]. VoidZero describes 1.0 as a stability milestone [13].
The adoption evidence is VoidZero's own. It says the package is approaching two million weekly downloads and that more than 2,600 public repositories depend on `vite-plus` [16]. It highlighted Tiptap, which replaced separate Vite, Vitest, tsup and Oxc setups with Vite+ [17]. For that result to transfer, a repo would need a similar mix of tools. The report does not include the size of Tiptap's migration or how long it took.
The other named adopters are Dify, Cloudflare's Next.js-compatible vinext framework, BlockNote, Inkline, npmx and Hono [18]. VoidZero was founded by Vite creator Evan You and has joined Cloudflare [14], so one of the six belongs to the parent company.
The Reddit complaint is about where files land. An early adopter wrote that Vite+ "puts everything into its own folders so debugging and finding where things are installed is a bit of a nightmare" [11]. VoidZero confirmed the design is deliberate and replied: "Oh yes. That's for easier switching and separation." [12]
What to watch
- Whether a breaking change in a bundled tool, such as the next Vite major, lands as a Vite+ major version.
- Whether remote caching and deeper monorepo diagnostics ship, since large monorepos are the projects VoidZero warns may need follow-up work.
- Adopter reports of vp migrate on large tsup projects in production, which the Tiptap example does not cover.

VoidZero released Vite+ 1.0, the first stable version of its unified JavaScript toolchain, around three months after the beta that InfoQ covered in August.
- [2]
A single vp command line tool manages the Node.js runtime, the package manager, and a frontend stack of Vite 8, Vitest, Oxlint, Oxfmt, Rolldown, and tsdown, all configured from one vite.config.ts.
- [3]
The setup-vp action, which collapses Node.js setup, package manager setup, and dependency caching into a single step, is now available for GitLab CI/CD alongside the existing GitHub Action.
- [4]
Vite+ is also now distributed through Homebrew and as a Docker image.
- [5]
vp migrate now handles tsup projects and resolves a range of edge cases reported during the beta. The command prints its plan before touching any files.
- [6]
VoidZero cautions that large projects may need follow-up work after vp migrate and advises teams to read the migration guide before running it on production code.
- [7]
Two new diagnostic commands target the opacity of a bundled toolchain: vp toolchain reports the exact version of every tool Vite+ provides, and vp env doctor explains how the runtime and package manager were resolved when that resolution goes wrong.
- [8]
A new vp hooks command sets up, enables, and disables Git hooks, and vp staged runs checks against staged files only, a role commonly filled by Husky and lint-staged.
- [9]
Because Vite+ ships as a single dependency tested as a unit, upgrades to the tools underneath arrive as one version bump.

A Hacker News commenter noted Vite shipped "five major versions in the four years 2022-2026", each with breaking changes, and said they did not want to become "a vite upgrade engineer".

A Reddit early adopter wrote that Vite+ "puts everything into its own folders so debugging and finding where things are installed is a bit of a nightmare".
- [12]
VoidZero confirmed the reasoning for the separate folders, replying: "Oh yes. That's for easier switching and separation."
- [13]
VoidZero is explicit that 1.0 is a stability milestone rather than a finished product; remote caching, deeper monorepo diagnostics, and new vp release and vp docs commands are planned for future versions.

VoidZero was founded by Vite creator Evan You and has joined Cloudflare.
- [15]
Since the beta, Vitest 5 has become stable and Vite 8.1 has shipped.
- [16]
According to VoidZero, the MIT licensed release is approaching two million weekly downloads, with more than 2,600 public repositories depending on the vite-plus package.
- [17]
VoidZero highlighted Tiptap as an example of 1.0 adoption, with the editor project replacing its separate Vite, Vitest, tsup, and Oxc setup with Vite+.

Other named adopters include Dify, Cloudflare's Next.js-compatible vinext framework, BlockNote, Inkline, npmx, and Hono.
