Fans are sharing a reported 200GB-plus Cartoon Network leak of editable production files

More than 200GB of Cartoon Network production files is reported to be circulating online, though no one has confirmed the size or the source. Dexerto lists editable character rigs and layered Photoshop files among the contents.

What happened

  • Discussion of the files began spreading around October 9 and 10, according to Dexerto.
  • Users on X say internal assets for more than 30 Cartoon Network shows are in the set, including The Amazing World of Gumball and Adventure Time, Gizmodo reported.
  • Dexerto says the Gumball material allegedly includes source files from its first two seasons, and Regular Show assets reportedly include backgrounds, character portraits and size charts.
  • Gizmodo noted that the leak surfaced less than a week after Paramount acquired Warner Bros.
  • Gizmodo's io9 said it had asked representatives of Paramount and Warner Bros. for comment and would update its story if they responded.

Why it matters

  • exposure Anyone holding a copy can open and change editable rigs and layered files; a finished episode offers no such access.
  • precedent Between them, Dexerto and Gizmodo cite three animation leaks: Disney in 2024, the Aang movie earlier this year, and now this one.
  • cost The cost lands first on the artists whose work circulates. After the Aang movie appeared online in April, animators criticized the distribution of their work before release.
  • constraint The size, the show count and part of the title list all arrive secondhand, so a rights holder or a team judging its own exposure cannot yet size the damage from public reporting.

Fans have been sharing discoveries from the collection, Dexerto reported, and they named it the "Classic CN Gigaleak" [1][3]. Teams that keep years of old files tend to assume nobody will go looking, and the accounts here describe fans doing just that.

Every figure in the story is secondhand. Dexerto says estimates put the material at more than 200GB [11]. Gizmodo relays the same number from IndiaTimes [14]. The count of more than 30 shows comes from users on X [13], and Dexerto credits The Express Tribune for the links to Robot Chicken and Teen Titans material [15].

Dexerto describes the contents as a look at the work behind finished episodes, including scene planning and keeping character designs consistent [8]. In our view that working layer is the sensitive part of any archive, because it records how decisions were made as well as what shipped.

The Powerpuff Girls files show why age is a poor guide to risk. Dexerto notes their inclusion follows the original show's return to Cartoon Network's regular lineup in April 2025 [9].

For a team deciding what to lock down on Monday, we'd sort each file type on two facts: whether a stranger could edit it, and whether the property is still in use. Editable and in use goes first, with a named owner, an access log and the fewest hands. Editable and dormant comes second. Viewable and in use comes third, since finished work is usually public already, and viewable and dormant goes last. The tradeoff is speed. Tighter access to working files slows the people who open them every day, and the ranking only pays off if the team accepts that cost on the top quadrant first.

What to watch

  • Whether Paramount or Warner Bros. answers io9's request for comment, which io9 said it would add to its story.
  • Whether anyone independent verifies the 200GB figure, the 30-plus show count or the origin of the files.
  • Whether artists who worked on the shows speak out, as the Aang animators did in April.
