ARR and revenue both grew 16% in the July quarter, helped by external storage and NC2. Fiscal 2027 guidance implies mid-single-digit growth off that run rate, with hardware delays sitting inside the guide.

What support for external storage arrays removes from a Nutanix deal is the server invoice. The company says customers can now adopt its software stack while continuing to run the servers and storage they already own, which cuts migration cost and complexity [11]. Nutanix supports platforms from Dell Technologies, Everpure and NetApp, and although NetApp support is only in limited availability, the company says it already contributed to several seven-figure annual contract value deals in the quarter [12]. External storage is a small share of deployments today, and Ramaswami expects it to accelerate in fiscal 2027 [13]. NC2, which runs the same software in public clouds, does a similar job of letting a customer proceed without replacing as much infrastructure [21].
That flexibility is doing work because the hardware underneath got expensive. Server prices and delivery times have both moved against customer budgets, and Ramaswami said there is "no near-term letup," with the company assuming increases run through the fiscal year just started [14]. Nutanix has not repriced its software, but hardware costs move the timing and size of projects [15], and the company plans to use more future start dates in fiscal 2027 so licences and revenue recognition line up with late server deliveries [16].
When the pipeline does convert, the operating leverage is real. Operating income of $198 million against $119.5 million a year earlier is about 66% growth on 16% revenue growth, roughly four times the top line [5][1], and the adjusted operating margin widened by 7.9 points to 26.2% [6][2]. Free cash flow reached $277.6 million from $207.8 million [7].
The guide does not extend that line. First-quarter revenue is guided to $755 million to $765 million against an analyst figure of about $756 million [18], a midpoint 0.4% above the quarter just closed [4]. Four times that midpoint is $3.04 billion, some $165 million short of the full-year midpoint, so the growth is booked for later quarters [6]. Annualise the July quarter and the full-year midpoint implies about 5.8% growth [3]. Free cash flow is guided to $850 million to $950 million [23], under the $1.11 billion the quarter annualises to [7]. Part of the margin step is deliberate: the roughly 5% headcount reduction is being reinvested, mostly in AI, cloud-native products, sales capacity and digital sovereignty [20], and the guided margin midpoint of 24.5% sits 1.7 points below what the quarter delivered [22][5].
Which leaves the Broadcom question resting on customer behaviour rather than product. Ramaswami called the pace of defections "steady and climbing," put the migration window at about five years, and named inertia rather than technology as the obstacle [17]. Nutanix added more than 3,000 customers over the year, though the CEO warned against reading quarterly additions closely because a handful of large deals can swing the count [10]. Shares rose more than 6% in initial after-hours trading [8]. The pace of the VMware displacement is being set by budget cycles and server lead times, not by anything Nutanix ships.
Ranked by verification strength, evidence, and original report placement.
Nutanix revenue for the quarter ended July 31 rose 16% from a year earlier to $757.1 million.
The consensus revenue estimate for the quarter was $738.3 million.
Adjusted earnings rose to 60 cents a share from 37 cents a year earlier, beating the 49-cent analyst estimate.
Operating income jumped to $198 million from $119.5 million a year earlier.

Evidence-backed comparisons of source perspectives and observed adoption signals. Read the methodology
Which Builder, Operator, and Investor concerns the observed source mix emphasized—not a truth score.
Evidence, demonstrated adoption, hype gap, incentives, and confidence are assessed independently, each on its own current evidence. How these are measured.
Specific figures, single company-briefed source
The financial claims are unusually specific and internally consistent (revenue, adjusted EPS, ARR, operating income, margin, free cash flow, three guidance ranges, all with consensus comparisons), which raises evidentiary quality. But every number originates from Nutanix's own results and a CEO press briefing carried by one publisher, with no filings, independent analyst commentary or customer verification in the cluster. Forward-looking elements (external storage acceleration, five-year migration runway) are executive assertion only.
Real revenue-scale adoption, thin on the new surfaces
Adoption of the core platform is measured and substantial: $2.55B ARR growing 16%, more than 3,000 customers added across the fiscal year, and $757.1M of quarterly revenue. The specific mechanisms this story credits are far less proven: external storage is explicitly a small share of deployments, NetApp support is only in limited availability with several seven-figure ACV deals cited, and NC2 and Kubernetes contributions are described qualitatively without figures.
Beat framing outruns the forward guide
Slightly overstated. The coverage frames a strong exit with broad-based momentum, and the beat is real, but the same disclosure guides fiscal Q1 revenue only 0.4% above the quarter just reported, fiscal 2027 revenue to about 5.8% growth off the annualized run rate, margin to 24%-25% versus 26.2% delivered, and free cash flow to a $900M midpoint versus $1.11B annualized. The growth driver highlighted in the headline framing, external storage, is by the company's own account a small share of deployments. The gap is modest rather than large because the reported quarter genuinely cleared consensus on every disclosed line.
Vendor-briefed results with publisher commercial ties
Nutanix has a direct interest in framing the quarter and the VMware migration runway favorably, and the entire factual base comes from its results release and a CEO briefing with journalists, including forward assertions about external storage acceleration and a five-year migration window. The publisher carries explicit monetization and community-network solicitations in the same item (theCUBE alumni network, AWS Marketplace referral links), and the article uses a company-supplied executive photo credited to the publisher's own media arm. No adversarial or independent voice appears.
Hard numbers, one publisher, no triangulation
Confidence is moderate. The quantitative core is precise and self-consistent, and the derived arithmetic is checkable from the disclosed figures, which supports the financial reading. It is capped by a single-source cluster with no independent verification, no filed financials, and reliance on executive forward statements for the drivers (external storage acceleration, migration durability, hardware inflation persistence) that carry the story's interpretive weight.
