What happened

  • Doppler's Q2 report put the vault at 83,344,138 XRP on June 19, worth about $94.7 million.
  • That same report showed $109.4 million of backing assets against $105.5 million of user assets, a ratio of 103.75%.
  • Evernorth, the Ripple-backed XRP treasury company, is set to begin trading on Nasdaq as XRPN with about 473 million XRP.
  • U.S. spot XRP ETFs took in $11.31 million last week, a 13th straight weekly inflow, while bitcoin funds lost $681 million.

Why it matters

  • exposure Depositors rest on a June snapshot: a $3.96 million cushion, or 3.75%, set against an XRP price range 59% wide. If backing and deposits are denominated differently, that margin is thin.
  • constraint With no native staking reward on XRP, any return for Doppler depositors or Evernorth shareholders depends on lending or other layered strategies, and Evernorth's are still plans.
  • contradiction Bitcoin.com News calls the vault a sign that holders want yield, not just price exposure, yet one week of ETF inflows buys about 8.0 million XRP at $1.42, more than the vault added in 115 days.

The 76% is mostly a spring number. From Feb. 27 to June 19 the vault added 32,253,369 XRP [17]; in the 115 days since, it has added about 6.7 million [5], roughly a fifth of that pace over a window of nearly the same length (115 days against 112) [18][19].

The "more than 90 million" is a floor, so the since-June pace is a floor too. Or rather, the slowdown survives generous rounding: at 95 million the vault would have added 11.7 million since June, 36% of the spring pace [21].

Price and count also tell different stories. The XRP in the vault is up about 8% since June 19 [22], while its dollar value is up about 35%, from $94.7 million to roughly $128 million at XRP's price of about $1.42 [3][6][23]. Most of the dollar growth is the token's price.

Evernorth is the larger pool by a factor of about five: Doppler's 90 million is 19% of its 473 million [24]. The two have different owners, a public company on one side and a pooled product for individual holders on the other [15]. Evernorth's yield is also a plan. Bitcoin.com News reported that it intends to pursue returns through institutional and decentralized finance strategies [11], so at listing it holds a treasury with a yield strategy attached, and the source does not report a return earned by either product.

We think the evidence supports a narrower claim than XRP holdings moving into yield wrappers: a real pool, 90 million coins or a little more, that filled in the spring and has grown slowly since. The slowdown has other possible explanations. Holders who wanted yield may simply have been in by June, or some may be buying the ETFs instead, and either would leave the vault flat while the appetite for XRP products stays intact. A lumpy deposit schedule would produce the same pattern.

The thesis fails if Doppler's next transparency report shows a count well above 95 million, or if Evernorth discloses a return it has earned on its XRP.

What to watch

  • Doppler's next transparency report: whether the XRP count is well above 95 million and whether backing still exceeds user assets by 3.75%.
  • Evernorth's first disclosure of a return actually earned on its 473 million XRP.
  • Weekly U.S. spot XRP ETF flows after 13 straight inflow weeks, against the vault's roughly 6.7 million XRP added since June.
