Parallels Desktop 27 puts a Metal-based driver behind Windows VMs, but the numbers it quotes are scoped to M3 and M4 Macs. The compatibility win is real; the throughput win is conditional.

Parallels quotes two figures for ArcGIS Pro, and they are not measuring the same thing. Rendering is up to 35 percent faster, while overall workflow time drops by up to 24 percent [6]. Work it backwards: for a 35 percent cut in one step to remove 24 percent of the whole, that step has to be about 69 percent of the workflow being measured [2]. Read "35% faster" the other way, as elapsed time divided by 1.35, and the render share rises to roughly 93 percent [3]. Under either reading, the benchmark is mostly rendering with a little else attached, which is fine as a driver test and thin as a productivity claim.
The 160 percent headline deserves the same treatment. It means the same frame arrives in about 38 percent of the time it used to take on M3 and newer silicon [4]. Useful, but secondary to the compatibility line underneath it: OpenGL 4.3 is described as the minimum graphics level many professional Windows apps require [3], and below a minimum an application does not run slowly, it does not start. ArcGIS Pro, ZWCAD and Blender 4.3 are the named beneficiaries [4].
That is where the hardware envelope starts to bite. The OpenGL number is quoted for M3 and newer [5], and the SME2 matrix and inference gains need M4 and newer [7], while the driver itself is presented as support for Windows VMs on Apple silicon [1]. An estate still running M1 and M2 machines therefore inherits the compatibility and none of the quoted throughput [1]. Anyone building a refresh case on these figures is building a case for new Macs, not for virtualization.
The enterprise plumbing is the less advertised half and probably the more consequential one for anyone managing hundreds of seats. Approved VM images can now be distributed through Azure Blob Storage and SharePoint, with declarative deployment aimed at zero-touch provisioned Windows VMs [10], and Parallels renewed its SOC 2 compliance with the release [9]. A Windows environment that ships from the same storage as everything else is an artifact IT versions, not a box IT buys.
Two caveats on the evidence. Every performance figure here is the vendor's, and the review carrying them is a sponsored column, underwritten by the Apple management platform Mosyle [15]; the author, Bradley Chambers, says he has been running Windows games in a VM on an M5 Pro during testing [13]. And the exclusivity is Parallels' own characterisation, that no other Mac virtualization tool currently offers this [2]. Neither is disproved, neither is independent.
The practical filter remains the compatibility database, which Parallels puts at more than 200,000 apps [11], and the product still arrives as an annual subscription across Standard, Pro, Business and Enterprise editions [12], a model Chambers concedes some customers dislike [14]. For a fleet whose only remaining Windows dependency was a GPU-bound engineering tool, the cost has moved from a second machine to a licence line and a chip generation.

Combined with an unverified 'unique among Mac virtualization tools' assertion and no independent benchmark, the framing runs ahead of the evidence, though not baselessly.
