Nvidia adds BlueField-4 hardware watchdog to back up host-based AI agent containment

Nvidia on Monday launched an AI agent safety platform whose Sentry watchdog runs on its BlueField-4 data processors. The design assumes agents will work around their limits, so its strongest enforcement runs on hardware only Nvidia makes.

IBM's skill-erosion survey records worry from 60% of 8,800 employees

IBM and Oxford Economics found that 60% of 8,800 full-time employees worried AI was eroding their skills. The closest controlled test, a 52-developer Anthropic experiment, supports building practice into AI-assisted work and is too small to blame the tools for skill loss.

IBM cools and links its first two quantum fridge modules, with Starling still dated 2029

The milestone is packaging, not qubits: box-shaped cryostats that pack in rows, a cold volume 12 times larger, and a coupler meant to knit hundreds of chips into one machine.

Granite 4.2 ships a self-hostable reasoning tier under Apache 2.0, and its data says coding agent

IBM's 3B, 8B and 30B dense models all get a thinking switch and native tool calling, but only the two larger ones get agentic RL, and the tuning mixture leans hard on software engineering.

NASA and IBM fold four lunar instrument archives into one reusable AI backbone

The Lunar Foundation Model is trained by hiding parts of co-registered map tiles and making the network fill them back in, and its most interesting design choice is that it is told where the sun was rather than left to work it out from the shadows.

Trump's "super intelligence" rename takes over a term the field reserves for a hypothetical system

The president told the UN General Assembly that all US documents will drop "artificial". CNET reports that no order has followed, so anyone drafting federal-facing text is weighing a speech against a settled technical definition.
