Shared bottom-of-frame artifacts confirm Multi Frame Generation runs on RTX 40-series cards
Tom's Hardware ran modder dashdogy's files in Cyberpunk 2077 and saw the same 4X junk on an Ada card that Blackwell produces. Whether input latency stays under 60ms is the part that decides the upgrade question.

Why it matters

Verification is the interesting part of this test. A mod that raises a multiplier can look like it works because the frame counter goes up. Tom's Hardware checked something harder to fake. MFG at 4X and above adds visual "junk" at the bottom of the frame regardless of the game, and the publication saw the same artifacts in the same screen regions on both RTX 40-series and RTX 50-series cards [5]. Identical failure modes across two generations point to the same interpolation path running on both. "At least in Cyberpunk 2077, then, we're confident that MFG is really doing its thing on RTX 40-series cards with this mod," Tom's Hardware wrote [6].
Whether that is worth having depends on input lag, and the multiplier is what puts pressure on it. Tom's Hardware's bar is roughly 60ms average latency as reported by Nvidia's FrameView app, the point at which player inputs and displayed frames start to become noticeably decoupled in an AAA single-player game like Cyberpunk [9]. The publication says the question is whether MFG runs on Ada within acceptable latency thresholds [10]. On the definition of the multiplier, a 120 fps output at 2X is fed by 60 rendered frames per second, and the same output at 4X is fed by 30 [17]. Tom's Hardware describes the model struggling to fill gaps between "sparser and sparser input data" as multipliers rise [12]. The test had ray tracing, path tracing, DLSS Super Resolution, Ray Reconstruction and MFG all enabled at once [14]. MFG is a 50-series exclusive, and dashdogy's method brings it to 40-series and earlier hardware, with instructions on his GitHub page [1][2]. Tom's Hardware puts the question directly: "Is Nvidia soft-locking MFG to Blackwell purely for marketing reasons?" [13]. A yes needs latency parity on Ada. Card prices are already elevated and look set to keep rising. The publication expects more owners to hold their 40-series cards [15].
The other limit is the display. Tom's Hardware saw no perceptible frame pacing or delivery problems, but tested on a high-refresh, G-Sync-Compatible ROG Strix XG27UCS, which it notes smooths out all but the worst such issues [7]. Its headroom rule is that delivered frame rates need to exceed your monitor's peak refresh rate [18]. Without a high-resolution or high-refresh-rate panel, the publication says MFG's utility is seriously limited anyway [8]. So the mod moves a feature onto older silicon for the subset of owners who already bought the monitor to use it.
The mod arrived shortly after a DLSS 5 DLL was found in a prerelease version of NBA 2K27 [16].
What to watch
- The recorded frame rates and FrameView latencies from the Ada runs, measured against the 60ms threshold Tom's Hardware set.
- Whether the mod holds up in titles other than Cyberpunk 2077, where fewer AI-generated pixels per frame are in play.
- Any Nvidia driver or DLL change that blocks dashdogy's method on 40-series hardware.
