What happened

  • The Nasdaq listing followed a SPAC merger with Armada Acquisition Corp. II that closed on October 9, 2026.
  • Shares jumped as much as 5% in Monday debut trading, according to Yahoo Finance data cited by Cointelegraph.
  • Evernorth's announcement gives Jeandesboz treasury allocation, liquidity management and active management of the XRP holdings.
  • The investor roster includes Ripple, Arrington Capital, SBI Group, Pantera Capital, Kraken and GSR.
  • At current holdings Evernorth sits just outside the top 20 publicly traded corporate holders of digital assets by value, according to Cryptobriefing.

Why it matters

  • exposure Buyers of XRPN take borrower and market risk on the XRP that someone holding the token directly does not carry.
  • decision Choosing XRPN over buying XRP outright means paying a management layer for yield, and it pays only if XRP per share grows faster than costs and losses subtract.
  • contradiction Cryptobriefing's $1 billion deal value cannot be rebuilt from the holdings both publishers report, so any Evernorth figure needs a token price and a date attached.

The two valuations are one holding priced twice. At the $1.39 a token that Cointelegraph took from CoinGecko [10], 473 million XRP comes to about $657 million [12], and that matches the company's own figure [9]. Cryptobriefing's $672 million [2] implies $1.42 a token [13]. The $15 million gap, about 2%, is a difference in the token price used [14].

The deal value is the harder number to reproduce. Cryptobriefing says total transaction value exceeded $1 billion, counting the XRP and the cash together [17]. At $657 million, the XRP plus $300 million of cash [16] is $957 million [18]; on Cryptobriefing's $672 million it is $972 million [19]. To reach $1 billion with $300 million of cash, 473 million XRP has to be worth $700 million, or about $1.48 a token [20] (and the cash is quoted before expenses [16], so the net is smaller). Cryptobriefing does not say what price or date the $1 billion used.

The stated aim, per Cryptobriefing, is to grow the XRP that backs each share [4], so the new CIO is measured on a ratio. One percentage point of yield on 473 million XRP is 4.73 million tokens, about $6.6 million at $1.39 [15]. That is the scale of what lending, liquidity provision and DeFi strategies [4][8] must earn, net of losses and fees. Neither article gives a share count or an opening price, so XRP per share cannot be calculated, and the move of as much as 5% on debut [11] cannot be set against the value of the XRP behind each share.

We think the hire fits the plan, or rather the part of the plan that involves pricing risk. Jeandesboz led derivatives trading at Coinbase Asset Management [3], and the company says it will lend, provide liquidity and run yield strategies [4].

That view has counter-cases. Shares can trade below the value of the XRP behind them, and a discount would absorb the yield. A borrower can fail to repay, the lending risk Cryptobriefing names [6]. Or the yield can be real and still small against the cost of running a listed company. Cryptobriefing describes most treasury companies as passive holders that leave their tokens untouched [23]; they carry no borrower risk and collect no lending income. Evernorth has chosen the other side of that trade-off, and the thesis fails if a single loan or liquidity position loses more than the 4.73 million XRP that a point of yield earns in a year [15].

What to watch

  • Evernorth's first XRP-per-share figure and share count, which would show whether the debut pop was a premium or a discount to the XRP behind each share.
  • Any disclosure of how much of the 473 million XRP is lent or deployed in liquidity and DeFi positions, and with which counterparties.
  • XRP against roughly $1.48, the level at which the tokens plus $300 million of cash add up to $1 billion.
