XRP Asia launches in Singapore to steer XRPL builders toward Ripple's existing grant programs
XRP Asia, backed by Ripple and the XRP Ledger Foundation, launched in Singapore on Oct. 3 to connect Asia-Pacific XRPL builders with grants and partners. The grants it points to are Ripple's older programs, and the best documented of them offered up to $200,000 per Japanese project starting in June 2025.

What happened
- Sabrina Tachdjian runs XRP Asia after serving as fintech and payments vice president at the Hedera Foundation and, before that, heading blockchain investments at LINE.
- A new SI Partnership Program will train system integrators and software development companies to build applications on the XRP Ledger.
- Ripple's Japan and Korea Fund, created in June 2024 under its 1 billion XRP developer pledge, already pays for grants, startup stakes, corporate partnerships and community work.
- Woori Bank and Kakao Bank were slated to join the XRP Seoul event, where cross-border payments and tokenized deposits were on the agenda, Crypto Briefing reported.

Why it matters
- constraint Until XRP Asia names a pool of its own, the cash it can offer founders is limited to whatever Ripple's earlier funds and partners still have uncommitted.
- decision With the Web3 Salon year over, Ripple has to choose between renewing per-project startup money in Japan and letting XRP Asia's introductions stand in for it.
- capability Training system integrators gives Ripple a channel into enterprise work such as the tokenized deposits its Korean bank audience is discussing, a channel hackathon teams do not offer.
A year from June 2025 is June 2026. That puts the end of Ripple's Web3 Salon offer, up to $200,000 per Japanese XRPL project over the following year with mentorship and investor access [9], about four months before XRP Asia announced itself on Oct. 3 [2]. As described, XRP Asia's part in funding is introductions: to infrastructure providers, to partners, and to grants and incubation programs "across the broader ecosystem" [7]. Neither the Bitcoin.com nor the Crypto Briefing report gives a budget for XRP Asia itself [1]. The nearest established pool, the Japan and Korea Fund, dates from June 2024, about 28 months before this launch [3].
XRP Asia says updates on its regional programs will accompany their launch [10]. If one of those updates attaches a grant figure to its name, it becomes a funder. If not, it stays a referral desk, and the founder's real question is whether Ripple renews per-project offers like the $200,000 one. The third possibility is that the startup side matters less than the integrator program, aimed at firms that, in Bitcoin.com's description, connect different technologies into working systems [6].
I'd expect the third. Ripple's commercial record in Japan runs through enterprises. In 2024 it partnered with Tokyo consultancy Hashkey DX to bring XRPL supply chain finance to Japan with SBI Ripple Asia, its joint venture with SBI Holdings [14]. That venture's token issuance platform was registered under Japan's Fund Settlement Act on March 26, 2026, and development was declared complete in early April [15]. If Woori Bank or Kakao Bank take tokenized deposits past the XRP Seoul agenda stage [13], I think integrators will do the building, and hackathon teams will not.
The launch's own language points the other way. XRP Asia said the launch is "an acknowledgement of the strategic significance of the region, home to key digital asset markets and builder hubs" [11], and the announcement cites a significant developer base [18]. Korea's most visible XRP activity is trading. Crypto Briefing reported that daily XRP volume on leading Korean exchanges such as Upbit has passed that of several major global platforms [16].
So far the commitment anyone can see is an organization and a hire [3]. Crypto Briefing wrote that Tachdjian's move "illustrates how competitive the race for institutional blockchain business has become" [17]. The view above is wrong if the promised program updates carry an XRP Asia grant figure, or if a new per-project offer at $200,000 or more appears under XRP Asia's name [10].
What to watch
- The first named members of the SI Partnership Program, and whether any of them take on work for Woori Bank or Kakao Bank.
- What Tachdjian and Ripple's Tatsuya Kohrogi set out at the Oct. 3 Grand Hyatt Seoul session on what comes next for XRP in Asia.
- Which Asian cities get XRP Asia communities beyond XRPL Korea and XRPL Japan.
