Workday makes its Sana agent the new Workday Home for employees

Workday said at Workday Rising that Sana, its agentic experience, is becoming the new Workday Home, with Sana Concierge to resolve HR and IT requests. Employees will work with Sana directly. That puts an agent ahead of the HR or IT team on routine requests.

Sana's agents reach employees, HR, IT and recruiters Who Workday's Sana agents reach and how. Recruiter steps come from Workday's demonstration, as SiliconANGLE describes it.

Employees work directly with Sana. HR and IT teams get Sana Concierge, which SiliconANGLE says can handle onboarding, leave and password requests without people. In Workday's demo, recruiters decide which candidates advance and the agent joins interviews to take notes.

What happened

  • Home adapts to each employee's role, using TypeSafe AI's Jev model to generate forms, calendars and approval cards in real time.
  • In a press briefing, Workday's executives presented the release as a shift from "copilot to autopilot".
  • Workday also announced two platforms, Work Intelligence and Decision Intelligence, for teams that work with AI tools and agents.

Why it matters

  • cost Training and support teams pay first: guides and help-desk scripts written for one fixed Home screen will not match a Home that generates its own forms and cards per role.
  • constraint When agents are triggered by data changes, login counts and page views stop measuring whether the tool is used, so a rollout needs outcome measures such as tickets closed and not reopened.
  • exposure An agent that sits in interviews to listen and take notes is a new participant in hiring conversations, and HR and legal need a position on notice before it is switched on.

In Workday's recruiter demo, the first thing the recruiter does is review outreach that the agent drafted before they logged in [9]. The recruiter chooses whether to advance candidates from the Sana interface, and interview scheduling then runs on its own [10]. At the interview the agent joins to listen, prepares notes and uses the recruiter's feedback to shape later recommendations [11].

Count the points in that sequence where work waits for a person and there is one [13], with unattended work on both sides of it. SiliconANGLE describes Concierge as handling onboarding, leave and password requests without passing them to people [4], so for those tasks the review step may not exist.

Chief AI Officer Joel Hellermark made the case for the single front door. He said, "Users shouldn't have to decide which agent to use, just as they shouldn't have to click between dozens of different systems." [6]

Whether employees will ask Sana before they file a ticket, and what they actually do with it, is a question for a pilot, because SiliconANGLE's report on Sana and Concierge does not mention pricing, an availability date, resolution rates or whether administrators can keep the previous home page.

Workday lists onboarding, leave and passwords together [4]. We'd sort them with two questions. Does the request have one right answer, or does it need judgement? If the agent gets it wrong, does the employee see the error at once, or does it surface later in someone else's system?

A password reset has a fixed answer and an error that shows in seconds, so the agent can finish it. A leave request has a fixed answer too, but a wrong date can sit unnoticed until pay day, so we'd want a confirmation step like the recruiter's before it commits. Where a request needs judgement, the agent can draft and a person decides. Where judgement meets an error that surfaces late, a person takes the request.

We'd start the pilot in the cell where errors show in seconds. A request type moves to the next cell once the share of Concierge conversations that close without a ticket, and stay closed a week later, is known.

What to watch

  • Whether Workday publishes pricing and an availability date for Sana as Home, and says if administrators can keep the previous home page.
  • Resolution and reopen rates for Sana Concierge from early customers, split by request type.
  • Workday's guidance on how candidates are told when a recruiter agent joins an interview.
