Tokenized stock trading grew 55-fold in 2026 against a sixfold rise in value, DWF Labs finds
DWF Labs says tokenized equities reached $3.8 billion in early October, up 483% since January, as weekly DEX trading rose 55-fold to $2.54 billion. Usage grew faster than value, though only about 8% of the market is deployed in DeFi.

What happened
- DWF Labs recorded $7.26 billion of spot DEX volume in the week of Aug. 31, with Robinhood Chain accounting for $5.36 billion, or 74%.
- Tokenized equities deployed in DeFi rose from $15.5 million on Jan. 1 to $313 million on Oct. 15.
- Ondo Finance still leads issuers at $1 billion, though its market share fell from 56% to 26%.
- BNB Chain now holds 32% of tokenized equity value, up from 9%, while Ethereum's share fell from 50% to 22%.
Why it matters
- What doesn't add up contradiction Token Terminal counted $4 billion on Oct. 16 against DWF's $3.8 billion for early October and gave BNB Chain a larger share, so a chain ranking is one provider's estimate on one date.
- What it limits constraint Binance's bStocks, which DWF counts at $905 million, are certificates that give no direct share ownership and exclude U.S. persons, so that slice of the market has a limited buyer pool.
- What's now possible capability DeFi deposits could grow about twelvefold on today's supply, because $3.49 billion of the $3.8 billion sits outside DeFi by DWF's count.
On these measures, use is outrunning value. Set against the 5.8-fold rise in market value [17], weekly DEX trading rose about 55 times [1] and DeFi deposits about 20 times [18], and the report's turnover ratio, weekly DEX trading divided by market value, went from 0.07 to 0.67 [7]. Transfers between addresses, a wider count that includes lending-protocol movements, rose 41.8 times [8].
The case that trading has faded rests on one week. crypto.news calculated from the report's rounded totals that the Oct. 5 week was approximately 65% below the Aug. 31 peak [5]. Without Robinhood Chain, the Aug. 31 week was $1.90 billion [19]. In October the chain's share of spot volume was 26% [9], or about $0.66 billion of the $2.54 billion [20], which leaves about $1.88 billion on every other chain [21]. Nearly all of the decline sits on Robinhood Chain, or rather it does if that share describes the Oct. 5 week and not the month; the report's wording leaves that open. The sources do not say why the chain's volume fell.
DeFi is the thinner measure. Deposits of $313 million are 8.2% of the $3.8 billion total [22], up from about 2.4% in January [24].
Robinhood Chain's volume could come back, and October would then be a lull. DeFi deposits could stall near 8%, and the usage gain would sit in trading alone. We think the evidence favours neither: use is ahead of value, from a base small enough to flatter any ratio, since DWF estimates that $3.8 billion is 0.005% of the $75 trillion US equity market [15]. DWF Labs wrote, in its discussion of adoption, "Tokenization for tokenization's sake won't work in the long run." [16]
We would be wrong if volume on the other chains falls well below $1.88 billion, or if deposits grow more slowly than market value and the 8.2% share slips back toward 2.4%.
What to watch
- Whether spot DEX volume on chains other than Robinhood Chain holds near $1.88 billion in DWF Labs' next weekly readings.
- Whether DeFi deposits keep growing faster than market value, so the 8.2% share moves above its current level.
- Whether Robinhood Chain's weekly volume climbs back toward its $5.36 billion August level.
