The close hands an application vendor the catalog, lineage and master data plumbing that agentic AI depends on, which leaves customers whose pipelines terminate outside Salesforce needing a dated roadmap answer from their account team.

The engineer who owns the nightly master data job cares about one thing now: whether the job they are on call for sits on a release train aimed at Agentforce 360. Its survivorship rules decide which customer address wins, and the systems reading the output are a billing platform and a warehouse that nobody in the CRM team has ever logged into.
The release gives a partial answer. Salesforce says it will "rapidly integrate" the Informatica stack, including data integration, quality, governance and unified metadata for Agentforce, plus a single data pipeline with MDM on Data 360, embedding what it calls "this system of understanding" into the Salesforce ecosystem [4]. Four products are named as beneficiaries: Data 360, MuleSoft, Agentforce 360 and Tableau [5]. Every one of them is a Salesforce property [16]. Six Informatica capability areas crossed over in the deal, from catalog through privacy to MDM [11], and the roadmap language attached to them points inward.
Salesforce does say the wider metadata view pulls context and lineage across every system, not just Salesforce [6], and that Informatica will keep supporting and integrating with its partner ecosystem [7]. Set that beside Informatica CEO Amit Walia's own framing, which promises to accelerate the company's mission as the "Switzerland" of AI-powered data management and, in the next breath, sells the benefit of "a single vendor that unites applications, trusted data and AI agents" [8]. Both positions are in one quote [12], and only one of them will survive a prioritisation meeting.
There is also a clock. Salesforce expects accretion on non-GAAP operating margin and non-GAAP EPS within 12 months, which it says is a full year sooner than it committed at deal announcement [9]. Add the year back and the original commitment was roughly 24 months [10]. Pulling that in by half is a fine thing to tell investors and a useful thing for customers to read roadmap decisions against, because integration effort that serves Agentforce and margin arrives before integration effort that serves neither.
So here is the grid worth drawing before the account team calls. One axis: does the workload's downstream consumer sit inside Salesforce or outside it. Other axis: is the capability named in the four-product integration plan [5] or not. Inside and named, you are the customer this deal was built for. Inside and unnamed, ask for sequencing. Outside and named is the uncomfortable box, and MDM lives in it: the hub you run for non-Salesforce consumers is the thing being reshaped around Data 360 [4]. Outside and unnamed is benign neglect, where the honest ask is maintenance commitments, support response times, and a priced migration option you hope not to use.
Teams often assume their estate is Salesforce-centric because the CRM is where the executives look, but the pipelines tell a different and checkable story: count the downstream systems that read your golden records each week, and count how many of them are Salesforce-native. That ratio, not seat counts and not agent activity, tells you which box you are in and how specific the roadmap answer needs to be before your next renewal.

Salesforce (NYSE: CRM) announced on November 18, 2025 that it had completed its acquisition of Informatica.
Salesforce says the close brings Informatica's data catalog, integration, governance, quality and privacy, metadata management, and Master Data Management (MDM) services to the Salesforce platform, establishing what it calls a unified data foundation for agentic AI.
Marc Benioff, Chair and CEO of Salesforce, said "Data and context is the true fuel of Agentforce, and without clean, connected, trusted data there is no intelligence - only hallucination."
The Salesforce release names four products it says the acquisition enhances: Data 360, MuleSoft, the Agentforce 360 Platform, and Tableau.
Salesforce says Informatica provides an enterprise-wide view of metadata, pulling in context and lineage across every system, not just Salesforce.
Informatica CEO Amit Walia said joining Salesforce lets the company "drastically accelerate our mission as the 'Switzerland' of AI-powered data management" and that businesses can benefit by "leveraging a single vendor that unites applications, trusted data and AI agents."

Evidence-backed comparisons of source perspectives and observed adoption signals. Read the methodology
Which Builder, Operator, and Investor concerns the observed source mix emphasized—not a truth score.
Evidence, demonstrated adoption, hype gap, incentives, and confidence are assessed independently, each on its own current evidence. How these are measured.
Unimpeachable on the close, bare everywhere after it
A company announcing that its own acquisition has closed is about as reliable as sourcing gets, and the capability list, the four named products and the executive quotes are all verifiable on the page. The score stops in the fifties because everything consequential past the close is a promise in the acquirer's voice: an undated 'rapidly integrate,' a one-sentence partner pledge, and an accretion figure restated from its own Investor Day. No second account exists in our coverage to test any of it.
An ownership change, not usage
The only dated event on record is the close. There is no customer named, no migration described, no deployment of MDM on Data 360 shown running, and no figure for how many Informatica installations sit inside Salesforce accounts. Ownership moving is not uptake, and nothing here lets us score uptake.
Language runs a long way ahead of plumbing
On the day a deal closes, the honest claim is 'we now own this.' The release instead reaches for a unified and comprehensive data foundation, seamless embedding, and Agentforce becoming unstoppable — vocabulary describing integration work that has not started. The gap is moderate rather than severe because the underlying acquisition is real and the capability list is concrete; it is the tense that is inflated. Walia's simultaneous 'Switzerland' and 'single vendor' framing is the tell that the positioning is doing more work than the engineering.
Every word belongs to the buyer
This is an acquirer's release about its own acquisition, published with a forward-looking-statements shield attached, and it is the entirety of our coverage. The unranked superlatives — world's #1 AI CRM, a leader in enterprise data management — cost nothing to assert. The accretion timeline is the most incentive-loaded line in the document: pulling it forward a year is precisely the number a market wants to hear ahead of an earnings call, and the company sourced it to its own Investor Day.
Certain what happened, unsure what follows
Confidence is high on the perimeter and low in the middle. That the deal closed on November 18, which capabilities transferred, which Salesforce products are meant to benefit, and when the earnings call falls — all firm. Whether the metadata foundation, the single MDM pipeline, or the partner-ecosystem promise materialise is untestable from one issuer document, and there is no reporting alongside it to raise or lower that reading.
