The University of Basel is Switzerland's oldest university, a research institution active in fields from physics and neuroscience to genomics and medicine.
No evidence-backed relationships are recorded.
Physicists in Basel and Paderborn used an optical cavity to make quantum-dot cascade photons 90% indistinguishable, up from 60%. The fix targets the timing correlations that have limited these on-demand sources, and brightness and entanglement performance have yet to be reported.
Reality
A Basel, FMI and Allen Institute team grouped cortical sites by where their axons end, and found primary and secondary motor cortex both reaching the brainstem and spinal cord directly. The 16-module layout is now in the open BrainGlobe atlas.

UC Irvine reports no retinal cell death in Greenland shark eyes, one of them about 200 years old, with DNA repair offered as a hypothesis and fixed tissue as the only material.
Reality
A University of Basel group has published Bonsai in Nature Biotechnology, replacing the two-dimensional map with a branching tree. The fidelity gains are asserted qualitatively, not quantified.
Reality
Basel researchers mapped 162 mouse brains to find wake-activated cells in the median raphe and preoptic area. Switching them off cut sleep by nearly 70 per cent, with no rebound.
Reality
A University of Basel framework in Physical Review Letters says part of the light leaking out of a driven cavity is work, not heat. Efficiency figures depend on where that line sits.
Reality
A PNAS paper from Eric Dufresne's lab reports an experimental metric for comparing how chemicals act on three unrelated condensate types. The claimed payoff is prediction instead of enumeration.
