Apple will make Mac users take 'very explicit' action before AI agents get Full Disk Access

Apple said on Oct 2 it will add macOS controls for Full Disk Access after an Inc columnist said Meta's Muse agent read his private messages. The new step governs how users consent, and a user who completes it still gives an agent the whole disk.

Fake Zoom installer talks macOS users past Gatekeeper to drop CloudSyncD backdoor

Jamf Threat Labs reported CloudSyncD, a new macOS backdoor that spreads through a fake Zoom installer and beacons to its server every 8 to 16 seconds. First caught as a VirusTotal sample that looked unfinished, it now appears in builds that connect to live infrastructure in what Jamf calls an active campaign.

Graz researchers read other users' browsing and keystroke timing through OS file-change alerts

Graz University of Technology researchers used file-change alerts to catch 95.7% of another Windows user's Firefox site visits from an unprivileged account. On shared hosts and on servers that run services under their own accounts, separation between users is weaker than the account model suggests.

Binding a dev server to 0.0.0.0 hands it to everyone on the LAN

A developer scanned their own MacBook from a second machine on the same network. The parts macOS ships were invisible; the exposure that stayed open was the dev servers they had left running, wider than they thought.

Apple makes Ask Siri the first result under Command+Space in macOS 27

Spotlight's new Search or Ask bar hands a typed question to Siri when you press Return, so the assistant now sits in the box Mac users already open dozens of times a day. It ships in beta, switched off, and English-only.

Claude Code's Bash tool hands every command to macOS zsh

On a Mac the tool named Bash calls zsh, and the GNU coreutils you put first on PATH in your profile never reach it, because the snapshot Claude Code replays before every call takes its PATH from Claude Code's own process.
