Salesforce answers the SaaSpocalypse by putting its permissions model inside Claude and Slack
AIforce opens Salesforce data, workflows and permissions to Claude, Slack and its own Lightning screen with no migration. The adoption figure it gave for Agentforce Coworker counts activations over 35 days.

What happened
- Marc Benioff opened the Dreamforce 2026 keynote in San Francisco on Tuesday by calling six months of SaaSpocalypse talk "crazy nonsense".
- Salesforce launched AIforce the same day, describing it as a live interface layer that brings its data, workflows, business logic, permissions and security to any AI interface or agent.
- Claudeforce, built with Anthropic, puts Salesforce inside Claude through an MCP server carrying 37 sales skills, with a Claude Code plug-in adding more than 40 more.
- Salesforce says 100,000 users turned on Agentforce Coworker, the teammate inside its Lightning interface, in the product's first 35 days.
- Benioff said Salesforce runs 7,000 of its own users on Claudeforce internally.

Why it matters
- exposure Permission sets written for a human clicking through a page now gate agents reaching the same records from Claude, Slack and Lightning, so a stale profile is exposed on three surfaces instead of one.
- constraint An activation count cannot tell a buyer whether Coworker stuck, so a team that wants retention or usage depth has to produce those numbers from its own pilot.
- cost Anyone sizing a budget line for the promised AIforce Max Edition bundle is committing before Salesforce settles what it costs, since the company says pricing and packaging may change.
- decision Admins now choose which interface gets write access to records first, and the Claude surface being in open beta moves that choice ahead of any contract renewal.
The person this lands on is the admin who owns the profiles, sharing rules and validation logic. Salesforce says AIforce enforces the permissions and business rules customers already use, and that no migration is required [8]. Those rules now answer to callers outside the Salesforce screen: Slack CRM manages Salesforce records from inside Slack [6], and Agentforce Coworker sits in the Lightning interface as an AI teammate [7].
The adoption figure is an activation count. Over those 35 days, turn-ons averaged about 2,860 a day [10]. Switching a panel on is the cheapest thing a user can do with it, and Salesforce did not publish retention or task-completion numbers for Coworker.
The internal figures are more specific, and uneven in what they prove. Salesforce's Hunter sales agent generated $500m in pipeline last quarter [12]. Pipeline is a forecast of revenue, not revenue. Its Casey service agent has resolved 5 million conversations [13], and resolution is the one measure in the set a customer would feel.
"It's an interface revolution," Benioff said on stage, running from DOS to GUIs to web to mobile [3]. Jensen Huang, whom Benioff brought out later, said "This new layer on top of software is going to be agentic. It's going to make you use the software so much better" [14]. In practice, a layer on top means the apps a customer licenses become the data and logic beneath interfaces bought from someone else. The Information reported days before the conference that Salesforce planned to drop "Agentforce" from product names [23].
Enterprise software stocks fell sharply earlier this year on fears that AI would disrupt them and have been recovering, CNBC reported [18]. Salesforce shares are up more than 50% from a 52-week low of $146 in late June [19], which puts them above roughly $219 [20]. The stock gained more than 4.5% on Monday after Anthropic chief executive Dario Amodei called for AI development to slow down, according to CNBC, then gave back some of the rise on Tuesday [21].
Benioff got to the data question before customers asked it. "Regardless of what you've heard on media or from other vendors, let me assure you that Salesforce products are built with zero data retention," he said [22]. Salesforce's position is that customer data does not go into the models [24].
Patrick Stokes, Salesforce's president of applications and marketing, said the Claude version is in open beta, and customers can request access on AppExchange with their org ID [15]. Before that widens, two questions sort the three surfaces: whether the agent writes to records or only reads them, and whether the interface sits inside the identity boundary the admin already audits. Read-only inside Lightning is a pilot with little to answer for. A write from Claude is the corner where someone has to own the field that changed.
What to watch
- Whether Salesforce publishes retention or task-completion data for Agentforce Coworker beyond the 35-day activation count.
- The price and seat terms attached to AIforce Max Edition once packaging firms up.
- Whether Claudeforce leaves open beta with write access to records, and what audit trail Salesforce exposes for an agent's write.
