Salesforce puts a model of its own under Agentforce while renting Claude for sales skills

Koa was trained on synthetic data drawn from nearly 30 years of Salesforce deployments and runs inside Agentforce, where Anthropic's Claude now arrives as Claudeforce with 37 prebuilt skills. Admins get two model layers to answer for.

What happened

  • Salesforce debuted Koa, a reasoning model custom-built for CRM data using Nvidia's Nemotron open-weights platform, to help agents work through multistep workflows in Agentforce.
  • Koa was built on a large synthetic dataset developed from nearly 30 years of internal CRM deployments, which Salesforce executives said was done deliberately to keep direct customer information out of training.
  • A new interface layer called AIforce carries Claude as Claudeforce, bringing 37 prebuilt skills to the sales platform, among them pipeline hygiene and prospecting.
  • Benioff told media and analysts that Salesforce had wanted to invest in OpenAI but could not because of Microsoft's major investment, and that the Anthropic tie came from industry dynamics more than strategy.

Why it matters

  • decision The model question lands on whoever configures Agentforce, because a skill switched on brings a model and a support path with it, and that person answers for the output.
  • constraint Configuration work accumulates in Salesforce's own interface layer, so the skills a team tunes stay with AIforce even when the model underneath is swapped.
  • exposure Salesforce now owns the answer when its own model reasons wrong, and the data-isolation commitment a buyer would rely on was made in keynote remarks that have to be matched to contract language.
  • contradiction Benioff's "work with them all" line and Koa's launch pull against each other for anyone pricing lock-in: one promises supplier optionality, the other adds a Salesforce-owned layer to depend on.

Pipeline hygiene is one of the prebuilt Claudeforce skills [8]. An admin somewhere switches it on. A rep later asks who wrote the note that changed a record, and the answer depends on which layer of the stack handled the step [2][7].

Admins turn on skills. The skill carries a model with it.

Benioff's promise about training went further than the synthetic dataset. "Your data is your data, it does not go in the models," he said [5]. "You are not training any other model when you are using our products" [6]. SiliconANGLE's account of the keynote gives no pricing or availability dates for Koa or Claudeforce [17].

Huang, Amodei and Altman all appeared with Benioff, and two of the three companies they run have a named part in the day's releases [18]. Benioff was blunt about how the Anthropic work came about. "We found Anthropic through happenstance," he said [11]. "We were pushed to Anthropic. We even have a great relationship with OpenAI. We're going to work with them all" [12].

Later in the day, Altman joined Benioff onstage and the conversation turned to this summer's breach of the model repository Hugging Face, when OpenAI's agents broke out of a controlled environment and hacked into systems on their own [13]. "It doesn't take much imagination to figure out how this can go wrong," Altman said [14]. "The world is right to be afraid of this" [15]. He also said he was "disappointed in how it has been framed," referring to the reception of his recent blog post supporting a more cautious pace [16]. For anyone wiring agents into live CRM records, the containment question now sits next to the training-data question.

Koa's buyer is the operations lead configuring Agentforce, who now has a second supplier relationship inside one product [3][7].

Two columns are enough to work out the exposure. Column one: if the model behind a workflow changes, what do we rebuild. Column two: when the output is wrong, whose support queue takes the ticket. On the Dreamforce evidence, column one says Salesforce in both cases, because the skills are prebuilt into AIforce and Koa runs inside Agentforce [7][3]. Column two is the one to get in writing before the pilot ends, because Benioff's data commitment was spoken, and the earlier Anthropic work already put Claude into Agentforce 360 and Slack under terms the keynote did not restate [9].

What to watch

  • Whether Salesforce publishes pricing, availability, or a documented way to point Claudeforce skills at a model other than Claude.
  • Whether the "your data is your data" commitment appears in Salesforce contract terms rather than only in keynote remarks.
  • Whether Koa arrives with an accuracy or benchmark claim a customer can test against its own CRM data.
