Ripple's stablecoin now keeps 56.1% of its $2.37B supply on Ethereum, where one lending market's $330M balance explains the chain split better than the 69,000 wallets holding the XRP Ledger side.

Put the $330M in Aave's contracts against everything else in the month and the distribution question answers itself. That single venue is 24.8% of Ethereum's $1.33B RLUSD float [5][2][1], 13.9% of the $2.37B outstanding across both chains [2], and 1.29 times the entire $256.5M that Ethereum added over the thirty days [3]. Add Ripple's own deployer wallet at $114M [6] and two addresses carry $444M, a third of the Ethereum supply [4].
The holder arithmetic sharpens it. At the $106K average balance Crypto Briefing reports for Ethereum [7], $1.33B implies something near 12,550 addresses [5], against more than 69,000 on XRPL whose $15K average multiplies out to $1.035B, close enough to the reported $1.04B to trust the series [6]. Take out Aave and the deployer and the remaining Ethereum holders average about $70.6K each [7], which is still four and a half times the XRPL wallet and nothing like a retail base.
The magnitude, though, needs care, because the same article does not reconcile with itself: 93% growth ending at $1.33B implies a starting point near $689M and a gain of roughly $641M [1][8], which is $384M more than the $256.5M it attributes to Ethereum [9]. Nor does the mint ledger close, with $1.39B minted less $606.8M burned leaving $783.2M net [3][10] against a reported market-cap increase of $303.7M, a $479.5M gap [11]. The direction is firm; the size is approximate.
The tidy version of the story starts with design. Ripple built this as a two-audience token at launch under its NYDFS trust charter, XRPL for cheap fast payment flow and Ethereum for composability [8], and for a while the design held, with $802M against $796M in late June 2026 [9]. What broke the tie was not payments and not retail; it was that Aave pays something for RLUSD and XRPL has no equivalent venue [10], so an issuer's home ledger turns out to be a marketing fact while a lending market's collateral list is a distribution fact. The corollary is that Ripple's own settlement minting is tilting toward the chain where its counterparties' other positions sit [10], directing liquidity effort into Ethereum plumbing rather than into giving XRPL the yield venue it lacks.
The counter-thesis is that $330M of deposits is a price rather than a franchise. Deposit balances chase rates, one protocol's supply cap or reserve-factor change can move a quarter of a chain's float in a week, and measuring a payments token by parked supply flatters the chain where money sits still over the chain where it moves. On that reading, XRPL's 69,000 wallets and cheaper finality [11] are the real product and Ethereum holds the inventory.
I would drop the collateral thesis if RLUSD's Ethereum share keeps climbing while Aave's share of that float falls, since broadening demand across many venues is a different story from one venue setting the split.
Ranked by verification strength, evidence, and original report placement.
RLUSD supply on Ethereum surged roughly 93% over the past 30 days, pushing Ethereum's share past the XRP Ledger for the first time since mid-2026.
Total RLUSD supply is approximately $2.37B, with Ethereum holding about $1.33B (56.1%) and XRPL retaining $1.04B (43.9%).
Over the 30-day period roughly $1.39B of RLUSD was minted and approximately $606.8M was burned.
Of the $303.7M added to RLUSD's market cap over the 30 days, Ethereum accounted for $256.5M, about 84% of the increase.
The single largest concentration of RLUSD on Ethereum sits inside Aave's lending contracts, holding roughly $330M.
Ripple's own deployer wallet accounts for another $114M of RLUSD on Ethereum.

Evidence, demonstrated adoption, hype gap, incentives, and confidence are assessed independently, each on its own current evidence. How these are measured.
One outlet, no data source named
Every balance here — the $2.37B total, Aave's $330M, Ripple's $114M wallet, the 69,000 XRPL holders — arrives through Crypto Briefing alone, and the piece never says which explorer, dashboard or analytics provider produced them. These are on-chain quantities that anyone could verify, which is the saving grace; nobody in this reporting has. The internal arithmetic then works against itself, which is unusual for figures pulled straight from a single dataset.
Real balances, very few of them
This is not a pilot: $1.33B is sitting on Ethereum and $1.04B on XRPL today, and there is a June baseline to measure against. What limits the score is breadth. An implied 12,550 Ethereum addresses, a third of that float in Aave and Ripple's own wallet, and only one protocol named anywhere in the reporting — the money is real but the participant list is short, and the 69,000 XRPL wallets carry a fifteenth of the average balance.
Headline outruns its own math
The 93% figure is doing more work than the underlying numbers can support: it implies roughly $641M of new Ethereum supply against the $256.5M the same story attributes to Ethereum. And the 'institutional DeFi demand' frame rests largely on one lending pool and an average balance, when the pool and the issuer's wallet together are a third of the float. The concentration reading in our headline is the more defensible one, which is why the gap is moderate rather than severe.
Supply growth is the issuer's scoreboard
Ripple has a direct interest in RLUSD looking like it is winning share, and controls the minting and burning that produces most of the movement described — including the $114M its own wallet holds. Aave benefits from being the venue of record for that float. Neither party is quoted here, so nothing is being laundered through a press release; the pull is subtler, in a crypto trade outlet framing a two-chain balance shift as a race with a winner.
Direction believable, magnitudes not yet
We would stand behind the shape of this: RLUSD is accumulating on Ethereum, in large balances, with an unusual share of it in one lending market. We would not stand behind the precise percentages. A single outlet, unattributed data, and a set of growth figures that contradict each other leave the story worth watching rather than worth quoting.
