Motorola builds its Snapdragon Extreme flagship around a 200MP periscope camera
The Signature 27 gets Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, but the specifications Motorola chose to publish are a 200MP periscope telephoto, a bigger vapor chamber and seven years of updates.

The Tom's Guide writer who has seen the Signature 27 mentions, in passing, that ordering a Dunkin' through DoorDash with the assistant on his Galaxy S26 felt sluggish [18]. Fixing that is what a new top-tier chip is for, and the spec sheet does not settle it. Motorola's own account of what the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 delivers is stronger on-device AI features, "responsive" gaming, faster download speeds over various networks and improvements to the camera [7]. The generative AI features it powers are built around Google Gemini [19].
The periscope telephoto has four times the nominal pixel count of the main sensor [20]. Tom's Guide says Motorola has detailed only two of the visible rear cutouts, and expects the rest to hold an ultrawide, a second telephoto and the LED flash [10]. Video gets a 3.5 degree hardware optical image stabilization setup, plus a new Video Enhancement Engine that Motorola describes as an AI-powered real-time layer analyzing scenes and fine-tuning color tones on the fly [12][11].
Inside Motorola's own range, the Extreme part went into a slab. The Signature that launched earlier this year ran the step-down Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 [5]. According to 9to5Google, the Razr Ultra (2025) used the Snapdragon 8 Elite, its successor did not upgrade, and the $1,900 Razr Fold has not gone beyond the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 [6]. The reveal was timed to Qualcomm's unveiling of the chipset, and the Signature 27 is the only handset either report attaches to it [3][23].
Before reviews land, it helps to separate the claims with a unit from the claims with an adjective. The unit claims here are the pixel counts, the 3.5 degrees of stabilization, the vapor chamber percentage and the update window, and a buyer can hold Motorola to all four in week one. The adjective claims are the gaming, the audio profile and the color tuning, and those need a reviewer or a return window.
Motorola has not announced a price [17]. Who the phone is for follows from the unit claims: someone who wants long zoom reach and expects to still be taking security patches in 2033 [22].
What to watch
