Apple restricts the redesigned Health app to U.S. English in the first iOS 27.2 beta

Installing the beta takes a trip through Settings, then General, then Software Update, then iOS 27 Developer Beta under Beta Updates ^[3]. What a tester finds in Health is a Longevity tab built around one number and four self-administered tests that help produce it.

Of the metrics MacRumors names, VO2 max is the only one that appears both among the Health Age inputs and among the camera assessments ^[24]. Flexibility, strength and balance are things the phone watches the user do ^[7]. Activity level and sleep time are collected while the user gets on with the day ^[6]. So the score blends passive data with a test somebody has to decide to sit down and take.

The developer-facing item in MacRumors' list is the FaceTime API Apple described in May, which lets sign language interpretation apps add a human interpreter to an ongoing video call and appears to be live in this build ^[17]. Neither rundown mentions HealthKit. 9to5Mac also lists dual capture mode for FaceTime ^[18].

The change with a legal owner attached is App Tracking Transparency. Apple's release notes, per MacRumors, say the prompt supports an alternative expanded version for EU users and re-prompts annually, and that the alternative prompt is required in France, Germany, Italy, Poland and Romania ^[12]. The alternative prompt is required in five member states ^[25].

Two smaller edits will save somebody real time. The Siri section of Settings renames App Access to Excluded Apps, and Add Apps now brings up a list so several apps can be excluded at once, where each one previously had to be handled individually ^[13]; an excluded app stops appearing in Siri, Search and suggestions ^[14]. Apple TV profiles reach iPhone and iPad, needing only a name, a profile rating and a yes or no on whether the user is a child ^[15], and a child profile defaults to a PG limit with a customize option for finer control ^[16].

The rest of the notes fall into two piles. Pile one changes a screen and generates tickets: the Health app's new icon ^[9], and the Play and Shuffle buttons in Music, now black instead of red ^[22]. The Clock app also shrinks the a.m. and p.m. readouts below the size of the time ^[21]. Pile two takes someone writing or configuring something: the EU prompt variant, the FaceTime interpreter API, and Siri AI in French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish ^[11]. Pile one comes down to a line in the release note and a support macro. Pile two comes down to an owner and a date. U.S. English users get the redesigned Health app in pile one, and for anyone else it is in neither ^[8].
