Geely put an 800-volt platform in a sedan priced 43 per cent under the Xiaomi SU7
The Galaxy TT starts at 129,900 yuan with 800-volt charging on every trim and LiDAR on four of the five, and the launch price came in 16,000 yuan below the presale sticker Geely set for it a month earlier.

What happened
- Geely launched the Galaxy TT, a mid-to-large all-electric sports sedan, in five trims from 129,900 to 185,900 yuan, or about 25 million to 36 million won, according to local industry sources cited on the 11th.
- The 129,900 yuan opening price is 16,000 yuan, or 11 per cent, below the 145,900 yuan Geely set when presales began last month.
- Every trim runs an 800-volt platform with CATL's Shenxing TT battery at up to 6C, and Geely says a 10 to 80 per cent charge takes 12 minutes against a maximum range of 725 kilometres.
- All trims except the cheapest carry LiDAR, and they support navigate-on-autopilot for city streets and highways plus automated parking.

Why it matters
- contradiction Seoul Economic Daily reads the market as moving beyond simple price cuts into a race to push advanced technology into cheaper models, yet the same launch took 11 per cent out of the presale price, so both levers moved on the same day.
- cost The reduction is in the manufacturer's own list price, not a dealer discount at the end of a slow quarter, and the only profitability remark in the source is that returns are improving slowly despite the competition.
- constraint Xpeng and Xiaomi now price against a car with an 800-volt platform on every trim, and any answer they give costs them either price or content.
- exposure With domestic sales down 21.1 per cent in July and exports up 88.2 per cent to a record, the buyers who will meet this specification at this price are increasingly outside China.
Inverted, the gaps read larger. The Xpeng P7 at 203,800 yuan costs 57 per cent more than the Galaxy TT base, and the Xiaomi SU7 at 229,900 costs 77 per cent more [3][4][1][2]. Seoul Economic Daily's 36 and 43 per cent are those same gaps measured from the rival's sticker instead of Geely's [3][4]. Both cars are described as electric sports sedans aimed at younger Chinese consumers and as direct rivals to the Galaxy TT [5].
The 16,000 yuan came off a presale number, before any deliveries, and the article gives no reason for the reduction [2]. Geely says charging from 10 to 80 per cent takes 12 minutes, and that 11 minutes of charging is enough for about 500 kilometres [6]. Against the 725-kilometre maximum, 11 minutes buys 69 per cent of the range [6][3].
The won figures need care, because the article does not use one rate. Geely's 129,900 yuan is given as about 25 million won, which is 192.5 won to the yuan [1][4]. Leapmotor's B01, at 95,800 to 119,800 yuan, is given as about 19.2 million to 24 million won, or 200 [9][5]. The article then says the Geely package puts LiDAR and urban driver assistance "in a car costing around 20 million won" [8]. At its own 192.5 rate, 20 million won is about 103,900 yuan [4][6]. That is below the base trim, and the base trim is the one without LiDAR [7].
So the sub-20-million-won claim belongs to the other two cars, not to this one. Leapmotor's B01 carries an 800-volt platform, 3C fast charging, LiDAR and urban driver assistance from 95,800 yuan [9]. BYD's Seagull, under 20 million won, carries the God's Eye system, and with it BYD put LiDAR into China's minicar EV segment for the first time [10].
Three named cars now list 800 volts or a laser scanner under 130,000 yuan, and that is the size of the evidence. Trim mix is what would settle whether the hardware has moved downmarket or only the entry price has: if the LiDAR-less base takes most of Galaxy TT volume, the sensor is an option most buyers decline. The article reports no trim mix, no unit volumes, and no figure for what any of this does to a non-Chinese maker's price.
What to watch
- Trim-level delivery data for the Galaxy TT, which would show whether the four LiDAR trims or the base trim carry the volume.
- Whether Geely's next launch repeats the pattern of opening below its own presale price.
- August and September China domestic sales and export figures, after July's 21.1 per cent domestic decline and 88.2 per cent export gain.
