NORINCO's Fuxi is a teleoperation bet: human in the loop, parts from home

The load-bearing phrase in NORINCO's own description is movement transfer between different robotic platforms ^[4]. Read as a product decision rather than a spec, that puts the value in the control stack instead of the machine: capture an operator's motion once, remap it onto whatever body is standing in the hazardous place. A group presenting 68 products from 18 affiliated units ^[11], among them a walking-assistance exoskeleton, a power-assisted towing robot and a wearable ducted-fan aircraft ^[12], has a straightforward reason to want a motion layer that amortises across a catalogue rather than one welded to a single chassis.

The autonomy on offer is narrow by comparison. Each robot in a formation reproduces a human's movements in real time ^[8], and the coordination language attached to the conference demonstration covers coordinated management, intelligent assessment and closed-loop response ^[9]. That describes a supervisory layer sitting on top of teleoperated bodies, not a replacement for the person driving them. For hazardous-duty buyers the human in the loop is not a shortfall, it is what makes the thing procurable, because responsibility for the door that gets opened stays with someone who can be named in a report.

What is absent is the ratio. There is no operator-to-robot figure for formation work, no latency budget, no endurance or duty-cycle number ^[16]. If the answer is one trained operator per machine, the fleet's cost scales with headcount and the formation demo is a staffing exercise; if the coordination layer lets one operator hold several bodies, this is a different product. Nothing published resolves it.

"Independently controllable" sits directly beside "fully domestically developed technologies" in the company's account ^[5][3]. That pairing reads as a supply-chain assertion rather than a statement about the robot's judgement: the interesting property is that no part of the stack waits on another country's export licence. NORINCO's own formulation for the concept, remote human control with on-site robotic operations ^[17], is equally frank about the ambition. The person stays in the loop by design.

All of it is the manufacturer's account, relayed through Global Times ^[2], with the 90kg class figure as the only hard number in the description ^[5]. Set that against the event's own framing. Organisers are inviting mass-produced humanoids, quadrupeds and dexterous hands into real-world trials ^[13], while on the stated minimums only about one exhibit in thirteen at the show is a debut at all ^[14]. Fuxi arrives as one of the debuts with a night-time demonstration, which is the softer end of what the organisers say they are asking for.
