Equivalence principle

The statement that gravitational and inertial mass are the same, so all bodies fall at the same rate at a given point in a gravitational field. It is a foundation of general relativity and a standing target for precision tests.

The equivalence principle has only ever been checked on first-generation matter. Anna Soter's group reports in Nature Physics a muonium source whose atoms leave the liquid at similar speeds, the condition a free-fall measurement needs.
