836 tokenized stock listings on X Layer average $109,000 apiece
OKX's layer 2 went from no tokenized equities to roughly $91.5 million in three months. How that balance is distributed across 836 listings says more about the demand behind it than the headline figure does.

What happened
- X Layer, which had no tokenized stocks three months ago, now holds roughly $91.5 million of market cap across 836 listed assets, according to Crypto Briefing.
- That balance is about 3.1% of the overall tokenized equities market, a share the chain did not hold at all before mid-June.
- The xStocks partnership was announced on June 1-2, 2026 and was live by June 15, with tokens issued by Backed Finance and traded through OKX Wallet.
- The largest single position is MSTRx, the tokenized MicroStrategy share, at around $8.45 million, and no asset exceeds about 9% of total holdings.
- Solana is still the dominant chain for xStocks, followed by Ethereum, with X Layer sitting in third place.

Why it matters
- capability A chain can enter a new asset class in weeks when the exchange wallet already holds the users and nobody has to bridge anything to buy.
- cost With no trading fee, OKX is paid in OKB gas burn and wallet engagement, so the balance has to get considerably bigger before it becomes revenue anyone can book.
- constraint Because US persons cannot hold these tokens, further growth has to come from the same 110-plus countries already served, and the addressable pool does not widen as the balance does.
- contradiction Crypto Briefing reads the flat distribution as an absence of concentration risk, but at an average of about $99,500 outside MSTRx the flatness comes from thin balances across a long list of tickers.
Divide $91.5 million by 836 listings and the average one holds about $109,000 [1][1]. Take out MSTRx, the tokenized MicroStrategy share at roughly $8.45 million, and the other 835 average just under $99,500 [3][2]. Crypto Briefing calls the portfolio "notably well-distributed", with "no concentration risk in sight" [13]. It is also what you get when most of the listings hold very little.
The denominator is soft. If $91.5 million is 3.1% of tokenized equities, the whole market is about $2.95 billion [2][4]. xStocks' own assets under management are reported as a range, $685 million to $811 million across chains [10]. On those numbers X Layer is between 11.3% and 13.4% of the platform it joined in June [5], and the range itself is $126 million wide, 1.38 times X Layer's entire balance [6].
OKX does not charge a trading fee on these assets, which are issued 1:1 against the underlying by Backed Finance [6]. Gas is paid in OKB [8], and Crypto Briefing puts the payoff to OKX as trading that "generates ecosystem activity, burns OKB for fees, and deepens user engagement with OKX's wallet infrastructure" [16]. US persons are excluded, so the balance came entirely from the 110-plus other countries where the assets are available [7]. The mix is about 88% equities and 12% ETFs [9].
The biggest position is a stock people buy for its bitcoin exposure. Crypto Briefing writes that MicroStrategy "has effectively become a leveraged Bitcoin proxy in traditional markets" [14], and its token is 9.2% of the balance on X Layer [3].
Three readings fit the same numbers. OKX Wallet reaches an existing user base without asking anyone to bridge, so the wallet rather than the chain explains the speed [15]. Or a good part of the $91.5 million is inventory placed so that 836 lines can be quoted at all, in which case it leaves when the incentive does. Or the balance moved over from Solana, still the largest xStocks chain [11]. The article does not break out holders or per-chain flows.
I would weight the first two. More than $35 billion of cumulative volume since June 30, 2025, against a standing balance of at most $811 million, is roughly 43 turns of the book [12][7]. Turnover shows circulation. The per-listing average is the accumulation test: if the balance grows with the average stuck near $109,000, X Layer is adding listings, and if the average climbs, buyers are adding size.
What to watch
- Whether xStocks resolves its assets under management to a single reported figure instead of a $685M to $811M range.
- Whether X Layer passes Ethereum into second place among xStocks chains, or slips back behind it.
- Any change by OKX to the zero-fee trading terms or to the exclusion of US persons.
