Tokenized stocks traded through the holiday at half Friday's daily rate

Onchain equity venues cleared roughly $1.01bn across the closed Saturday and Sunday, then $398.3m on the holiday Monday. Per day that is about $505m against Friday's $1.02bn, and Robinhood Chain took the biggest single share.

What happened

  • Tokenized equities on decentralized exchanges traded roughly $1.01bn on the Saturday and Sunday of Labor Day weekend with the NYSE shut, and the holiday Monday added $398.3m.
  • Robinhood Chain handled $572.8m of the holiday-weekend flow, which Crypto Briefing puts at more than 57% of activity across the four main tokenized-stock venues.
  • On BNB Chain's bStocks platform, one tokenized Nasdaq 100 fund called QQQB traded $180.5m over the weekend, and the chain's cumulative tokenized stock volume has passed $5.2bn.
  • Base, Coinbase's Layer 2, launched B20 equity tokens in August, reached $100m of single-day DEX volume and $730.9m over the 30 days to mid-September, much of it through Aerodrome.
  • Grayscale research published in early September 2026 put weekly tokenized stock spot volume near $3bn before the holiday and named Robinhood Chain, BNB Chain and Solana among the leading networks.

Why it matters

  • capability The NYSE is open about 32.5 hours of the week's 168, and tokenized issuance now puts an executable price on the other 135.5, including holidays.
  • constraint The volume does not pool. Four separate chains means the depth behind any single weekend order is a fraction of the headline billion, and a large seller works one book at a time.
  • decision Robinhood and Coinbase are each running their own network for this flow, so the next issuer has to choose between building a fifth venue and renting liquidity on someone else's.

Friday's $1.02bn was one day of trading, according to Crypto Briefing's tally. The $1.01bn that followed was two. Divide it out and the closed-market days ran at about $505m each, just under half the Friday rate, and the holiday Monday was lighter again at 39% of Friday.

The 57% share is the figure to poke at. Robinhood Chain's $572.8m against the two weekend days is 56.7%; against the three-day total of $1,408.3m it is 40.7%. Subtract Robinhood Chain and QQQB from the weekend total and $256.7m is left for Solana, Base and everything else on BNB Chain. The report does not include NYSE dollar volume for the comparable session, so none of these totals can be sized against the exchange they track.

Base's $730.9m over 30 days averages $24.4m a day, against a best single day of $100m, so the peak is about four times the mean. BNB Chain's cumulative total, past $5.2bn, works out to roughly 1.7 weeks of the $3bn weekly spot volume Grayscale counts across venues.

Set the holiday against the week before it and the comparison inverts. Grayscale put pre-holiday weekly volume near $3bn, which is about $429m a day; the weekend ran at $505m a day, and Friday at 2.4 times the weekly average. On that reading Friday is the anomaly in the series.

So this is real liquidity at a daily rate in line with the rest of the week, and the price question is separate. These tokens typically hover near the previous market close, moving on sentiment, breaking news and speculative positioning, according to the report. In my view the business settles there, selling access to the hours the exchange is shut, which is what Backed Finance's xStocks and Ondo Global Markets were built to do. Two results would argue the other way: a weekend where news pushes the tokens well off the prior close and Monday's opening print validates them, or a single chain holding more than half of a weekly total that does not depend on which three days you count.

What to watch

  • Whether closed-day volume closes the gap on weekday volume over an ordinary, non-holiday weekend.
  • Whether Base repeats its $100m single day or settles back toward its $24.4m daily average.
  • Whether a weekend news event moves tokenized prices well away from the prior close before Monday's open.
