Salesforce puts the Sales Cloud name back a week before Dreamforce
Salesforce added Agentforce to about two dozen product names last October and has now taken it off its flagship sales and platform pages. The agent pitch in the copy is unchanged, and the company has not explained the reversal.

What happened
- The Information's Kevin McLaughlin and Laura Bratton reported, citing two people with direct knowledge, that Salesforce is removing Agentforce from the names of some of its biggest products a week before Dreamforce.
- Sales Cloud, which became Agentforce Sales last autumn, is Sales Cloud again, and The Information dated the change to this week by comparing the live site with the Internet Archive.
- Headless 360, unveiled in April so customers could plug external agents from Anthropic and others into their Salesforce data, is called Salesforce Platform again.
- Salesforce has not explained the reversal, and The Information said its spokespeople did not respond to requests for comment.

Why it matters
- cost Every team that rewrote internal documentation and support macros around Agentforce Sales in the past year pays for a second pass, and the second pass restores names those documents already had.
- decision A customer mid-renewal now has to check the name on the order form against the name on the website before signing, and decide which one governs the entitlement.
- contradiction The growth figure Salesforce publishes for Agentforce cuts against the simplest reading of the retreat, so treating the reverted names as a verdict on agent demand goes past what the record supports.
- precedent Google folded NotebookLM into Gemini Notebook in July, so procurement should expect product names to drift in both directions between signature and renewal and write the mapping down while it still matches.
If your sellers learned to say Agentforce Sales last winter, the page they land on now says Sales Cloud, with Agentforce Sales sitting lower down as a capability, according to TNW's check of the live pages on Monday [4]. The copy has not softened on agents. The sales page still runs the line "Sellers focus on winning. Agents handle the grind." [6], and the platform page opens with "Build your Agentic Enterprise on a trusted, open, and unified platform." [7]
The pitch stayed in the copy while the product names went back, with one exception: Agentforce 360, the product itself, keeps the name, The Information reported [18]. Marc Benioff had gone further in public than the SKU sheet ever did, suggesting Salesforce might one day take the name itself [8].
On the single number Salesforce publishes for the line, weak demand is hard to sustain as the explanation. Agentforce annual revenue grew more than 240% year on year to more than $1.5bn in the July quarter, after what The Information called a sluggish start [9]. Growing 240% means finishing at 3.4 times the starting point, so the base a year earlier was in the region of $440m [10]. The measure counts the next 12 months of signed contracts, not revenue already booked [11].
For anyone with a renewal in flight the question is narrower than the branding. Whether the reversion reaches contracts, invoices and support pages, or only the marketing site, is still open [12]. The name on a quote line is the one procurement matches against a purchase order.
Two questions sort the work for each affected product. Does the name appear in something you signed, meaning an order form, an invoice line or a renewal quote? Does it appear in something your people search, meaning help docs, support macros, training material, dashboard labels, integration names? Neither: nothing to do. Searched but not signed: one pass on the docs, with Agentforce Sales kept as an alias so old searches still land. Signed but not searched: written confirmation from the account executive that the SKU and the entitlement are unchanged. Both: a logged change with a date, and Salesforce's own old-name-to-new-name mapping in hand before anyone countersigns.
Salesforce spent a year teaching customers, partners and its own sellers a new vocabulary, and those names are back where they started with no public explanation [15]. Dreamforce opens next week [14].
What to watch
- Whether contracts, order forms and support documentation pick up the old names, or only the marketing site did.
- What anyone on the Dreamforce stage says about the naming, and whether Agentforce 360 still carries the name after the conference.
- Whether next quarter's Agentforce annual revenue keeps climbing now that the label has come off the flagship products.
