Open Cosmos puts €300M behind four factories rated at one satellite a day
The Harwell company says five profitable years and more than $370M of signed contracts back the round, and the concrete gain it can show is Earth observation intelligence arriving in 30 minutes, down from up to 48 hours.

Why it matters

The buyer here is a procurement officer at a national agency whose budget does not stretch to a constellation of its own. Open Cosmos sells that person a share of one. OpenConstellation lets governments pool infrastructure they would otherwise each have to fund on their own, ConnectedCosmos provides sovereign broadband and IoT links, DataCosmos turns imagery into something operational, and OpenOrbit designs, builds and operates the spacecraft underneath [11]. TNW, which argues that shared-constellation economics appeal to smaller states because building sovereign capability alone is unaffordable [17], has covered Open Cosmos building Greece's first constellation on that model [16].
One satellite a day across four factories works out to 365 a year, about 91 per factory [1]. TNW called that a statement about capacity rather than output, and called the reported 100% mission success rate a ratio without a denominator [7][8]. What decides whether four factories matter to a buyer with a launch window is the current build rate and the mission count, and the article does not include either.
Latency is what has actually been delivered. Next-generation OpenConstellation satellites have cut Earth observation intelligence delivery from up to 48 hours to as little as 30 minutes, using onboard AI processing and satellite-to-satellite links, with no wait for a ground station pass [9]. Forty-eight hours is 2,880 minutes, so the fast case is 96 times quicker than the slow one it replaces [2]. The company's worked example is a satellite spotting a temperature anomaly over a forest, classifying it onboard as a probable fire, and relaying that to firefighters directly where terrestrial networks are unavailable [12].
Build speed has a second data point. Open Cosmos designed, built and launched its first ConnectedCosmos satellites within two and a half months of securing Ka-band spectrum filings [10].
On the money, the company cites its own account: five consecutive years of profitable growth on more than $370M of contracts signed in three and a half years [6], which averages about $106M of new contracts a year [3]. TNW puts the €300M at roughly six times the $50M raised in the previous round [5]; that multiple sets a euro figure against a dollar one [4]. The round comes as global venture investment in space reached $11.3bn in the first half of 2026, above the $10.1bn recorded across all of 2025 [13].
"But infrastructure alone isn't enough. The real value comes from the intelligence that relays what's happening on Earth in real time and the global connectivity to deliver it," said Rafel Jorda Siquier, the founder and chief executive [14].
Some of what is on offer here is demonstrated and some of it is only rated. Demonstrated: intelligence in 30 minutes, a satellite launched two and a half months after the spectrum filing, and five profitable years on contracts already signed. Rated: one satellite a day, four factories, and a 100% success rate. A buyer who wants one of the rated numbers demonstrated asks for the denominator on that success rate and a delivery date on their own order.
