Gemini Notebook, formerly NotebookLM, adds a mobile recorder and live voice in nearly 100 languages
Google is adding real-time voice conversations in nearly 100 languages and a mobile audio recorder to Gemini Notebook, the product formerly called NotebookLM. Training teams get a way to capture spoken content, though it arrives in stages and its retention rules are undocumented.

Why it matters

Once the rollout finishes, Gemini Notebook will have three audio features, and each does a different job. Audio Overview, the existing one, is generated output built from a notebook's sources [12]. For a training team, the recorder is the feature that changes what goes into a notebook. The dev.to summary of Google's announcement describes a manager who records a thought on a phone, adds it to a notebook and later explores the material by voice. The summary labels that workflow a potential use [11]. Before building a process on it, I'd want to see a recording actually arrive in a notebook as a source, in a real account.
Voice works on both web and mobile, so a session can start on a computer and continue on a phone [13]. The figure of nearly 100 languages [4] measures coverage. For it to help a training library, the voice model has to handle a company's product terms in the languages its staff actually speak. Google's announcement is aimed at studying and learners [7].
According to the summary, the announcement does not specify recording limits, storage, record retention, a permissions model, integrations with internal systems, general pricing, or which plans include which features [8][9][10]. In my context, voice sessions over approved reference material are fine to pilot as they arrive. Recorded internal meetings should wait until Google documents storage, retention and access.
