Salivary gland dysfunction

Loss of normal saliva production by the parotid, submandibular and sublingual glands, causing dry mouth and knock-on effects on eating, speech, taste and dental health. Common causes include head and neck radiotherapy, Sjögren's syndrome, diabetes and ageing.
