Far-infrared astronomy

Observation of the universe at wavelengths between the mid-infrared and the radio bands, where cold dust, obscured galaxies and forming planetary systems emit most of their energy. Atmospheric water vapour blocks most of the band, so the work is done from space or high altitude.
