Scans across three memory stages caught older adults merging two events into one
A Cerebral Cortex study scanned young, middle-aged and older adults through encoding, rest and recall of face-image pairs. Older adults' errors were mostly wrong pairings, and repeating the original brain pattern went with more confusion.
