Polar-night clouds are the weak spot in models of Arctic cold air outbreaks
A late-April cold outbreak pushed parts of Europe 10C to 15C below the seasonal average. Winter clouds and the Arctic boundary layer, the processes that reshape such air masses on their way south, are what numerical models represent worst.
