Higgsfield's After Effects agent hands back a project file a designer can still edit

The agent returns layers, keyframes and timing that a designer can revise inside Adobe. Running it means paying for Higgsfield credits, a ChatGPT plan and After Effects at the same time. The runtime figures are Higgsfield's own.

What happened

  • Higgsfield introduced AI Motion Designer for Adobe After Effects on September 10th and promoted the workflow in a post on X three days later.
  • Higgsfield says the workflow needs active access to Higgsfield, ChatGPT and Adobe After Effects, with generations consuming the same credits used on its web platform.
  • Its product page says users can request projects of 30 minutes or longer at resolutions including 1080p, 4K and 8K, with longer runtimes and higher resolutions taking more generation time.

Why it matters

  • cost An agency that runs the agent twice a month still pays ChatGPT and Adobe in full, because only the Higgsfield credits track usage.
  • decision The buying test is one narrow client revision note executed inside a returned composition; a demo of the first pass does not answer it.
  • exposure Client footage, text, colors and reference art go in as agent inputs, so commercial material passes through Higgsfield's stack before it comes back into Adobe.
  • constraint Higgsfield's published figures describe generation at length and resolution, so the cleanup hours after the agent's pass are a number an adopter has to measure in-house.

Start in ChatGPT. Add the Higgsfield plugin, invoke the After Effects tool, and describe what you want [4]. GPT-6 Astra handles the planning, the coding and the computer use, and Higgsfield supplies the media-generation and editing tools [7]. What lands is an open After Effects composition with editable layers, keyframes and timing. Higgsfield says a designer can revise that project without regenerating a flattened video [3]. A request can be as small as animating a title or assembling a logo reveal [22]. There is also a native plugin panel inside After Effects that places assets straight into an Adobe project [5].

runtimewire puts the value in the approval cycle: commercial revision requests are usually narrow, and an editable composition can take them without a fresh render from the original prompt [11]. Higgsfield's published description of the handoff covers layers, keyframes and timing [3]. Whether a one-line note from a client becomes a two-minute change depends on how those layers are named, nested and grouped. One returned project tells you that.

The workflow needs active access to Higgsfield, ChatGPT and Adobe After Effects [8]. Generations draw on the same Higgsfield credits as the web platform, and the ChatGPT and Adobe plans carry their own costs [8]. So one of the three bills scales with how much you generate and two arrive whether anyone prompts anything or not [19].

Higgsfield's product page says users can request projects running 30 minutes or longer at resolutions including 1080p, 4K and 8K, and that longer runtimes and higher resolutions increase generation time [9]. For an 8K figure to mean anything to an agency, it would have to arrive with the layer count of the returned composition and the hours a designer spent conforming it to a house template. runtimewire flags the runtime and resolution figures as Higgsfield's product claims, not measurements from client productions [10].

OpenAI released GPT-6 Astra on September 3rd [6]. Higgsfield presented 3D Jutsu, a standalone browser-based 3D workspace, two days later, and introduced AI Motion Designer seven days after the model shipped [13][18][1]. The two products pull in different directions. 3D Jutsu keeps the work in a browser, while AI Motion Designer enters through ChatGPT, does the generation and composition work, then leaves the project in Adobe's file and editing environment [13][14]. The Blender plugin is listed as a separate product again [13].

The After Effects move follows an earlier correction in Mashrabov's product strategy: Higgsfield began with a consumer application that struggled to retain users, and according to TechCrunch's profile, interviews with directors and commercial producers pushed Mashrabov and Yerzat Dulat toward precise camera controls and production workflows [15]. Mashrabov co-founded AI Factory, whose technology powered Snapchat's Cameos, and Snap bought it in 2020 for a reported $166 million [16]. Runway, Adobe, OpenAI, Google and Chinese model developers all ship video generation, and Higgsfield's packaging is presets, production agents and connections to creative software [17]. The account does not show that this is the first editable-composition handoff in the category.

What to watch

  • Whether Higgsfield or a customer publishes a returned project file, so layer naming and nesting can be inspected before purchase.
  • Whether the native After Effects panel becomes the main entry point. If it does, the ChatGPT plan drops out of the required stack.
  • How many Higgsfield credits a 30-minute 4K request consumes, since credits are the only usage-metered part of the bill.
