Build system for which layers exist to deploy the Architecture Compliance Suite image and run distribution installation tests as part of a normal build.
No evidence-backed relationships are recorded.
The release-notes table read on 26 August 2026 puts Unagi on Scarthgap and Vimba on Wrynose. One has about 20 months of upstream fixes left; the other has 44.
Reality
systemd earns its 5.10 kernel floor and glibc toolchain only when services need readiness ordering and resource limits. Plenty of fixed-function devices need neither.
Reality
Buildroot 2026.05.1 boots an ARM root filesystem under QEMU with no hardware. The rule that decides whether the image works is which output directory you copy from.
Reality
Both paths produce a module that loads. Only one of them moves the cost of kernel churn onto somebody else's payroll for the life of the product.
Reality
Arm certification now requires firmware to hand the kernel a device tree and to accept capsule updates. The compatibility rules that would make that safe across kernel versions are not finished.
