After pea cover crops, corn trades a chemical toxin for a call to predators
A Penn State team grew corn in soils conditioned by pea, radish or triticale and found the pea plots produced plants emitting nearly twice the indole of fallow controls, but carrying less of the toxin that deters feeding.
