Fibers beneath the cortex tracked how strongly gray matter loss predicted language trouble
Diffusion MRI in 459 community-dwelling adults over 60 in India linked the thin fiber layer under the cortex to language scores. Atrophy still predicted cognition best, and how much it predicted varied with the wiring.
