Senate committee wants a statutory authority to answer Australia's 32,000 daily Triple Zero calls

Telstra has answered Australia's 000 calls under contract since 1961. Eleven recommendations from a Senate committee would move that job to a statutory authority and set reliability standards for the carriers connecting to it.
