UCLA model forecasts Los Angeles Kia thefts continuing through at least 2042
Jeffrey Brantingham's team traced the 2020 theft surge to twenty Kia and Hyundai models built without engine immobilizers. Their Los Angeles forecast follows those cars as they depreciate into less affluent neighbourhoods.
