Sand hoppers shift 50 kilograms of sand a night for every meter of a California beach
A team scraped and weighed the mounds left overnight on Isla Vista Beach, then scaled the result over 25 kilometers of coast to about 310 tons of sand a day. Whether that beats a South African sand prawn depends on units the field has not standardized.
