Microsoft patches File History failure caused by September update, but only for Windows 11 so far
The September 2026 security updates left File History unable to create or update backups on Windows 10 21H2 and later and Windows 11 23H2 and later. The fix ships in an optional preview update; machines on mandatory updates wait until October 13.
