China's installed solar capacity overtook coal by three gigawatts at the end of July

The margin was three gigawatts. Capacity is the cheapest of the relevant numbers to move. Solar delivered 802.4 terawatt hours over January to July, about 13 percent of Chinese electricity consumption.
