Microplastics showed up in every one of nine sacred South African springs sampled
Counts ran from 5 to 48 particles per liter at springs in the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal. With no agreed safe level for freshwater, the researchers offer the figures as a baseline to track over time.
